Need Good amp, 300 Watts RMS
Need Good amp, 300 Watts RMS
I got 2 Infinity perfect 10's. They are 4 ohm subs and I want to run around 300 watts RMS (not peak power) to each. First off, should I get a mono amp, I was told by aa buddy this would be the best for 2 subs at 4 ohms. What is a good amp for this kind of power? I hear the Rockford 1000.1 is a good amp, it makes 500 RMS at 4 ohms. Any suggestions/comments?
Thanks, Matt

memphis st1000d. it's a class D amp with 300w rms. i use it to run 2 15" kicker solo's. i would recommend this amp to anyone who is serious about their bass. http://www.memcaraudio.com/P8&9_Studio_Amps.htm
it's a little pricey, but it's well worth it. i bought both of my memphis amps from ebay brand new for much less
st1000d for subs
and
st3004 for components

Kicker also makes some nice mono amps. If you go with the DX350 and wire the subs in parallel, you'll be pushing 350 watts to them. Also, it sounds like you already bought the subs, but if you didn't, get two 8 ohm subs and get a Rockford punch 250.a2 amp and you'll be rockin.

When buying lower powered amps, I would strongly suggest getting a 2 channel amp and bridging it. It gives you more options later on. Instead of replacing the amp when you upgrade, you can just start using it to power your front speakers, or something else. Or at the very least, you'll be able to sell it easier. There's not much market for low power mono amps.
I would suggest a Kicker ZR240. It'll put out over 500 watts RMS all day long and it's cheap.

i am running the infinty Reference 10's they are 250 Watt RMS, i have two of them each one is hooked to a US Acoustics USX2100 2 channel amp bridged to 1 channel putting out 300(RMS)x1 @ 4ohms ( i have the gain turned down on them so they dont blow my subs) i picked two of these amps up brand new off of Ebay for 100 each including shipping, i have yet to be dissapointed!
check out their web site @ http://www.usacoustics.com/index.html

Thanks for the replies! Is the US Acoustics USX2100 a good amp? It looks like a decent amp for my application. I haven't heard to much about US Acoustics, do they make good stuff?
Thanks, Matt

ROCKFORD FOSGATE, all the way, i have an older punch 60 dropped down to 1 ohm on a dual voice coil 1000watt 12" RF HX2 and it pounds it! RF is the way to go for amps!

they rate their amps @ 12.9 volts instead of 14.4 which means you will get 300watts RMS even when the car is off, and a little more when its running. I havent had any trouble with their amps, the seem to be a relatiivly new company, but have recieved many good reviews on www.carreview.com
RF bd500.1
I have one that is in perfect shape i'll sell for $300 if your interested...let me know bigm@caraudio.com
