I was gona do 3 XTANT HEX 12's then came across this BOX for 4 8's. Yes I know 8's but the box is PLEXI on top along with the inside shelfs for the subs.
Id like to paint the inside to match the Z.This is the only reason for wanting a plexi box and subs in it.

I had 4 JL 8's In a fiero (2 behind each seat)and I was happ[y with that. But how would 4 of them sounds in a 92Z28..?

Does the box look like its all right( PORT WISE) etc...
Any advice.

I know it would be really hard to tune a band pass box like that to get it to sound right. Have you heard it play? Band pass boxes are very particular when it comes to amount of air volume, port length etc. It would be impossible to tell if it's built right for the speakers without knowing what kind of speakers they are, and even then it would take a lot of math. I don't really like the 1-1/2" clearance between 2 of the subs and the face of the box. My suggestion would be to listen to it first.

No, The design was faxed to me via a buddy.

Im looking for something more show than MEGA LOUD. This is one of the only plexi boxes the wheel well I have seen, Thats why Im asking about it. I hate to buy 4 8's and this box sound like ****.

Maybe I will just get the 3 HEX 12's

ANY OTHER INPUT PEOPLE

I sent an email to you a couple times last week, but my ISP is an unreliable piece of crap. Anyway, unless a bandpass box is built specifically for a particular sub, it almost always sounds horrible. You can't just spin the wheel and get a good result like you can with sealed boxes. Unless that is EXACTLY what the speaker maker reccomends for box volume and port size, forget about it.

its a design from OZ AUDIO or 200L's Ive heard Oz subs were junk. This was a few yrs ago tho. Maybe Ill just stick with the 3 12's and do something neat to make em look good.

Thanks

www.xtant.com has a great box designer and a great technical support department. Call them up and tell them what you are doing and go from there.

I wouldn't call OZ junk honestly...

I went up against several people in my competition zone that run OZ equipment (Robert Hilengartner and Steve Head) and both of their cars sound very good.

As far as the Xtants, I don't belive that you will get the results you want from putting them in that bandpass box. I'm not even 100% sure that Xtant recomends bandpass at all.

As far as 4 8's, I think you would be more than pleased with the sound as well as the output as long as you can get them in a properly built enclosure. Why not do a sealed box and have a plexi grill that spans the length of the box and paint the top of the box the same color as the car?

Just a suggestion.

if Im gona do that Ill just do the 3 12's or 4 10's and do that. I just thought the 8's with mirror and paint would look sweet.

THANKS

I've got a pair of Oz 300Ls in my car and they're a very clean speaker.

So would you say that 4 OZ 8's in that box would be worth it? Of just go with 3 12's?

I e-mailed XTANT to see what they say about 3 12's or 4 10's. Or any of their 8's in that box.
