What is input sensitivity????

On my Kenwood amp, there is a **** for input sensitivity. What is this? Should I mess with it? Also, my amp does not have anything to set gain with. Why wouldn't it? Thanks.

I have always had a hard time explaining this.

For the most part, the gain is kind of like adjusting your fuel/air mixture with a computer. Once its set to your motor (or speakers) it shouldn't be changed. Same with the gain.

The volume control on your car is like the gas pedal.

Some guys try to use the gain as a gas pedal.

Some amp don't have it because they just keep going until the over drive the input. Its a one size fits all approach.

the input sensitivity on the amp is the same as gain.

Set the input to the lowest setting, put your head unit volume all the way up and then start raising your input level on the amp till it's as loud as you want it, this way you won't have to worry about frying your amp or your sub(s), sometimes though, some recordings are louder or lower so try and tune it with a louder recording or a test CD. This is the safest way to keep your system safe.
