I have a pair of Pioneer's TS-A6969 on the rear of my camaro, and I'm not very pleased with the bass that I get, but I blame it on the car's design cuz I have used the same speakers before on a 2nd gen camaro and, it was a day and night diference, it used to shake the rear view mirror. Besides that, I think pioneer makes very reliable speakers and their durability is great, just don't go with a very cheap one.
220w max power
IMPP cone
Butil rubber surround
4 way
28-30,000Hz response
93 dB/W(1m) sensitivity

I have Pioneer 4-ways, in enclosures, situated in the back on my amp rack/sub enclosure. A 200 watt Jensen drives them, and it makes all the difference. When they were mounted in the sail panels, the deck wasn't driving them enough to sound good. They were the first speakers I put in the car (to replace the factory ones), so I haven't had any experience with other 6x9's in my 'Maro. So far I am very happy with them. Oh, BTW, putting them in the hatch area has alleviated complaints from back seat passengers due to a seaker blasting in their ear from 3 inches away.

I'm using Bose 6x9's, they are a HUGE improvement over stock, and they sound great.

I have Cerwin vegas and love them. I had the pioneer ones and they distorted WAY to fast. The Cerwins are much crisper and don't distort as fast.

Amped Kappa 6x9's w/bass blockers that are great for the highs. 12" Boston subs are for the lows.

I have amped Infinity Kappa 4x6 plates up front and 6x9's in the rear. Say goodbye to high volume distortion, simply amazing.

I have DHD 6X9's running off a 200 watt pioneer amp and am very happy with them, they have alot of treble, and have enough bass to even vibrate the mirror a little bit LOL.

I have the Pioneer 3-Ways. By themselves they seem alittle too high and not enough bass. I imagine I'll be glad I have them after I put my subs in though...

Speakers and amps anyone?

try pioneer 6x9 compression horn speakers model tsa-6995. match em up with a 100x2 jbl amp. then change the front ones to 4x6 plate infinitys. power em with a pioneer 40x2. then put a truck box ontop of the fuel tank in the back. i used Crutchfields MTX 3x10" 4000 subs. The box handles 1200 watts...mono load. face it towards the glass. power it with anything over 400 watts, sounds fine. crossover to pick and choose where sounds go. i have a cheap rockwood, never had a problem. then try a cd player, whatever floats your boat. i have a panasonic mp3 player, and a pioneer equalizer model eq-6500. i would suggest gettin new speaker mount areas on the back panels, you can get em off ebay to prevent rattling. i have all this run off the stock alternator and with no farad cap. i do suggest you get a cap though. this is 3 amps, a crossover, and eq, and a cd player all goin at once. lots of draw. box fires off the glass, and sounds awesome with the tops on. with the tops off, i suggest crankin the bass level, cuz the signal has nothing to bounce back off of. and if you have any intentions of keeping your car light, please disregard this article...

I have the Boston RX 97s in my Grand Am now...used to be in my '89 RS. I agree...the sound is almost unparalleled for a 6x9 design.

I started with Pioneer 3 ways...was not impressed at all. Highs too bright, woofers too cheap to make a serious (hehe...there is no such thing as serious bass from a 6x9 in a third gen!) attempt at good midbass. I then moved to Kappas, and those woulda been great if the damn cones hadn't had warped...the new Kappas are a different design though.

I have never met anyone who has had Bostons and didn't like them. They're an integral part of both my systems, and I wouldn't buy anything but! You'll pay more, but if you want the best, it costs $$

I would reccommend the Blaupunkt ODxa694s
I have them setup in my 84 Camaro Sport Coupe, and I am very happy with them.....if you look on ebay you can get them for a great price....I have yet to meet someone who complains about them.

If you want clarity don't buy a co-axial speaker. go with a component system or these eclipse, they are what i run and i love them. If you are looking for bass then go buy some subs.

http://www.eclipse-web.com/products/...int/title.html

The 4" ones fit in the front (89940)

the 6" X 9" fit in the sail panels (89440)

I agree w/coldairiroc..eclipse is the best sounding speaker on the market. Dont get me wrong, some of the others sound good, but i personally like eclipse. They make a great product, stand behind it, and they're stuff sounds incredible. The 6x9's are more mid high, if u listen to rap or want more bass u'r gonna need a sub w/em. they're clear and undistorted tho. Good sounding stuff from them all around. A lil pricy, but u get what u pay for i guess. Just my .02 cents

Right now I am running JVC 3 way's. They sound great with my subs. 2-12" JBL's in bandpass. Highs are clean, but without subs there is next to no bass. When I get home I am getting Vegas all the way around. I may evenn through in an amp for the fun of it. Good idea??
