Do I need a bigger carb ?

I've seen a few cheap 850 cfm "double squirter" Demons on ebay. Some of my friends say a 750 is more then enough for my 400, but somehow I think a bigger carb is required. What are your guys' opinions ? I have a 750cfm VS carb now. I think it's a 1460 ? I dont know... I just bought it yesterday.

Why don't you put bigger jets in it?

It has #69 jets in it now. I'm afraid that if I go any bigger my gas mileage will go well in the single digits. Right now it's around 9.. and for a broke guy like me that counts a lot.

Changed them to #75 today. No difference in acceleration. Mileage went down a little. Hmm... maybe I need a double pumper.

I've got some good mods on my engine and I still don't feel that my engine feels the need to go to a 850 dp. A 750-770Holley is good IMO.

A 750 with 69 jets?? How does it run? I have a 750 on a 350 and my motor loves the 72's I have now. I tried to go with something like a 65 or so but I could get the motor to run right, too much air to go with the gas. But I also have a single plane intake. Not much of a difference but it was as close as I could get to stock. I can not find my first jets!! If you go with a DP your gas milage will go down as well.
