For you..any cam will probably work best in the first position. the others are for cars with a much higher idle.

Sorry for the stupid question but for "first position" you mean the hole marked with the number 1 ?

thanks

Yellow? I'm looking at a very old Holley book right now but that color shows as a Holley 4500 (Dominator) pump cam only, and only one position is specified.

Anyway, are you sure about 3 holes? There's 2 positions on every Holley I can remember workign on that match up with 2 holes on the throttle arm. Position #1 lines up with hole #1, and if you rotate the cam ever so slightly, Position #2 lines up with hole #2.

And if it's a vacuum secondary carb it will only have a pump cam on the primary side of the carb.

Have I been away from Holleys too long?

Ok hole number one, but in wich direction?
the pump cam has two faces one is plain and the other has the number 1,2,3.

i think that the throttle linkage have to be in contact with the plain face of the pump cam.

IS THAT RIGHT?

YES OR NO?

The hole position affect the total volume of fuel delivered. I don't have a reference book handy but you basically have three diferent cams there. It's probably going to be a large shot in any of the holes.
