yeah I am 17 right now and my dad doesnt want to help me on my car now because, I dont want to do what he wants to do to the car. He just wants to make it a 14 to high thirteen second car, I am not working 45 hours a week at wendys and doing power washing for a 14 second car. I want 12. Sorry had to vent.

JETS
Thos aren't the jets, those are the idle mixture screws. The edelbrock has one jet and one metering rod on the top of the carb. You shouldn't have to change it for the setup you are running. You should honestly be able to bolt that carb on and go play.

Your question was, "...how should i set the carb for be4 i start the engine as a ruff adjustment...". That was answered - bolt it on, start it up.
The real adjustments will come as you tune it trial & error. The Edelbrock website has good info for that portion.

i read the whole thing on edelbrock website but its kinda confusing. well then after i get the engine runnin and all how do i adjust it? just turn till it idles?? i don;t know much about carbs
carb adjustment
DIRECT answer to your question. Bolt the carb on the car. Start it up. If it idles too fast, adjust the idle SPEED, not the mixture. DO NOT play with the two mixture screws on the front of the carb. You will not need to adjust ANYTHING on the carb except idle SPEED, which is adjustable with a SINGLE screw that acts as a throttle stop. You will NOT need to play with the jets, and you will NOT need to play with idle mixture with that carb on that motor.
Geez, arguing with dad over the car? Welcome to my world. What arguments have I had to deal with, you have enough power (like you need the 454 in your camaro dad), Quadrajets are good carbuerators (says holley's nothing but trouble), you dont need bigger exhaust (mine necks down to 2.5" at one spot because no one will help me cut the old system and re weld a bigger piece in), gutted cat wont do all that much (it did when we did it, i kinda "accidently" took it off the car and was like its off, lets fix it), burnouts are bad (this from a man who burns out in MY car). Anywyas, when I start getting lectured about wanting to do something he considers dumb, I just say you can either help me do it now or help me do it later when what i do doesnt work and mom yells at you to get it out of the way.
Strong suggestion, just get along with him, he probably knows a lot more than you do about cars, and youll benefit more from working on it together. And besides, working 45 hours a week for a 14 second car? A 14 second car is pretty fast, especially for a newer driver. I'm 18 and I can assure you Id be dead if I had even a 15 second car to learn on. I accidently fishtailed my 18 second camaro a couple of times and almost totalled it. If it makes you feel better, I have to work 40 hours a week to keep my 14 second car. Of course, I may get a second job and save up for a nice centrifcal supercharger that outta get me in the 12's.

A 14 second car is not that fast because I have driven a ten second car and now that is fast. I will not need nitrous to get my 350 in to the low 13 and even 12. Right now I am starting to compromise with my dad.
Good to here about you and your dad, but to reach the 12s, you will probably need different headers and exhuast, and I would imagine you would want to at least port the heads because the s/r so I have heard stands for stock replacement. I would imagine you are going to need some suspension goodies and then you can probably say good bye to mr. t5 because he is going to die. So then you will either need to get a better manual or go to a built auto (I would suggest a t56). From what I hear though, if you take care of your wc t5 it should last decent, but if you are going to be making 12 sec runs fairly often I would not plan on it lasting forever.

True a 14 second car isn't all that fast. I have driven my fathers camaro which is probably well into the 12's and the difference is a lot. OF course, compared to all of the kids cars around here, mine is fast. ive actually given people rides in my 2.8 camaro and they thought it was fast. In all actuality, I can probably outrun it.
to set the adjusting screws u have to turn one at a time untill the rpms are at their highest point, when the rpms start to go down give them alittle turn back and it will be set. Kinda hard to do by yourself if u dont have some sort of tach u can bring to the engine compartment but worst comes to worst do it by ear.
