Help, Egr is blocking pcv port on Holley

Just swapped an Edelbrock Performer manifold and a Holley street legal 600 cfm(square bore). It was a pain to get the carb to sit down on the intake because the lip on the egr valve was in the way. It did go down but now the PCV tube on the carb is right on the EGR valve, no room to connect any hose. Any ideas or solutions? This is on a 77 firebird ( I do have an 84 Z-28 though)and this manifold has no problem with the stock q-jet), the egr does have some kind of spacer though on the z-28. Hope to find a cure for this asap if possible. Working on this in the 90+ Texas heat is killing me. thanks

Get an EGR blockoff plate. They're under $10 through Summit, Jegs, or a local speedshop.

Well, I do want to keep the egr. She's all emissons legal so I don't want to go the blockoff route. Thanks though.

bump it up, no answer yet

Come on, somebody must be running this holley with the performer manifold and retaining the egr. This isn't an elaborate setup here.

Perhaps not, but you did say this is a '77 Firebird. Pontiac engine, right? Since this is a site for '82-'92 F-bodies, why should somebody here know about a '77?

We all get lucky once in awhile, though.

No luck with me responding, however...

Would an egr extension help any 'billyde' ?
I've seen them around, but's it been awhile. Its basicly a little block that the egr set on.

I've always believed the egr was a double edged sword. It reduces NOx, but also reduces fuel economy requiring more fuel to be burnt which increases NOx. It's like your going to see the same amount of NOx per mile driven, with or without one.

BTW: I have an '81 so I'll help

Ron

Come on 5kid, i've got an 84 z28 and a 77 firebird and the firebird has a chevy 305. It's the same low output 305 basically but the oil dipstick is on the other side. I did call the gm dealer and they do have an egr spacer, i think that will do the trick. thanks
