hood scoops PLEASE read
this is probably a really stupid question but here goes. Is it possible for me to get someone to cut out the black part on my hood and for me to buy parts that would allow me to connect a hose of some kind and get it into my carb? if anyone knows whay i mean, put this into scientific terms that you all say. I really want ram air but i dont want the expensive hoods. maybe later.

*** i wish i had a digital camera again. I took a stock (flat) black hood and cut a shape in it to match my carb/aircleaner sticking up, then i rivited a bracket around that spot and made a cowl out of bent aluminum. i then drilled and bent holes at the bottom so i could pin it down (using hood pins) over the hole in the hood.
Now i have a removable cowl on my hood.
then i silicones it, primered it, painted it, clear coated it, and made it look all pretty.

Yeah, these flip up hood scoops are nice. I thought the LS6 Chevelles had backward facing scoops tho? I dunno, im prolly wrong. You can definitely hear and feel it when the scoops open up. Does anybody have an idea of how one could wire a switch to the interior to flip the scoops open at all times? Is it vaccum operated? Also, the hoods have a shaped gasket to match the CFI aircleaner with two throttle bodies. This way the water doesnt get into the induction system. I know it is like that on the 83 models anyway, but i think the 82's were referred to as cease-fire because water managed to get into the throttle bodies. Does anybody know the feasability of keeping the hood while changing over to carb and using a carb aircleaner? Could i use the X-stream lid? Would it matter if it got wet? Sorry for the length, and thanks.
