Dumping the CFI crap

I am going to get rid of the CFI on my 82 z-28 and go with a carb.

I currently have a holley 650 that is going to be going on the stock 305. Anywho, I'm wondering what else is all needed in the swap.

I think i've got it down.

Intake (Going with edelbrock perf rpm)
Distibutor (Can i pull 1 from local junkyard?)
Some type of fuel regulator (May i retain stock fuel pump?)

And i think this is all i need, am i missing anything. Any input would be very appreciative, also its an 82 z28 HO. Thanks, Battery.

That's about it.

It's not a HO, it's a CFI. Don't call it a HO. That's a poser untruth. There was no HO in 82.

Keep all your CFI stuff, or sell it to somebody that wants it. Don't cut the wiring as you remove it; it's possible, even easy, to remove the entire thing as one solid piece, with no cutting of anything whatsoever.

I posted this a few times before.
Anyhow, I was bored one night and came up with a use for my old X-Fire setup.

I wouldn't lay my SW or Colts on the floor like that. A Taurus, probably, but not a GOOD pistol....

HAHAHAH, thats classic. Thats exactly the use i want to get out of my CFI. I am in the process of this swap and have the engine out, with the new one almost ready to go in. I have a 700R4, does anybody have suggestions as to what kickdown bracket to use? Throttle return springs, throttle cables? Do i need cables to go to the kickdown bracket, etc? Im borrowing a friends carter 650 until i can afford a 670 avenger. Thanks
Matt
edit: just out of curiosity, what is the round thing on the back of the manifold on the passengers side. I pulled that off so that i could get to the distributor and the top tranny bolts. I couldnt figure out its purpose.

I do believe that’s the EGR Valve. It introduces exhaust gases back into the combustion camber to reduce combustion temperatures while idling. This has the effect of reducing NOS in the emissions.

I hope I got that right

Check out Lokar for all your aftermarket bracket & cable needs...

I know the thottle cable on the CFI is about 25' to long
...and most aftermarket brackets will have a place for the kickdown & throttle cables.
What's great about the Lokar bracket is that it's works with both Edelbrock's & Holley's, and mounts to one of the rear carb studs. This is a concern when it comes to intakes like the Victor Jr that dosen't have any provision to mount it on the intake itself. However the Edelbrock bracket mounts to the two rear intake bolts. So I guess it dosn't matter, so hmmm - me going shut up now

Oh yea, It is a Taurus PT-92AFS and takes the same ammo as yours does...So ehhh Vader...

BTW: I think Taurus uses the same machine as the older Berretta where made from....

It's not a bad piece, but needed a little massaging to get the bullets to come out straight - consistently.

Details...

Do us all a favor; flip that intake upside-down, and snap some good, clear, close-up pics of the ports, so we can all get a good laugh.

If thats the EGR valve, where do the exhaust gasses come from? Very confuzed, and i think those ports would be damn funny myself. Glad mine are gonna be gone ASAP.
