Hey 'Apeiron' aside from the one piece base, adjustable secondary air valve; do you see any advantages over the AFB?

The AVS and AFB were very similar, I think the only difference was the spring-loaded air door on the AVS instead of the counterweighted one on the AFB. Both of them have the one-piece bowl.

It sounds more of a novelty, than a real performance boost…
Folks with AFB’s can always take a little off the counter weights to change opening characteristics of the secondaries. I don't recommend it, but it can be done in very small increments.

hmmm - $330 buck for the 600 manual choke...hmmm that's a little pricey, unless your going for a resto look.

The old AFB was maybe a little more complex, but infinitely more tunable than Holleys. A few changes in metering rods and the fuel curve could be set up as smooth as a baby's behind. They did seem to like to live on top of larger displacement engines, though. Trying to tune one for a low-flow thing like a 327 was a real PITA, but on a 440 Mopar or 455 Poncho it was cake.

Still, at that price, you're well on your way to a DFI or dual 450 and intake.

i have a Carter competition series AFB carb, how the hell do i find out what CFM it is..?

Check the model number stamped in the base somewhere.

measure the primary and secondary bores across the bottom in millimeters and I can tell you.

if i was to tell you the model number, where would you find out what it is? just so i can do it whenever and not have to ask
