Does carb need rebuild after sitting for long time?

My 83 Z parts car has a no-frills 305 with a Edel 550 Performer car. This car will never see the road again and *** only knows when it'll be started again. Not sure if I'm going to keep the engine and install in a non-emissioned car/trk or what. Will it hurt the carb if the car is not started for a long time (6 months-year)?

Thanks,
Brandon

Gasoline isn't the best long-term storage fluid for a carb. It's best to have some preservative type stuff in there, or drain it out.

What kind of preservative? Is it something to just pour in the carb?

I was thinking more along the line of Sta-Bil. I use the AMSOIL gasoline stabilizer, personally.

Sure. Try to drip some into the fuel bowl vents, then pump the accel a few times.
