with your 700r4 and mild converter, i would look into a vacuum secondary carb. The 3310 is a nice carb and very easy to tune on. If your heart is set on a double pumper..go with the demon, much better quality.
just did some research.....do you think that the cam is to radical??
i wanna keep my a/c
i kinda have my heart set on the xe274
what do ya'll think? im gonna talk to my mechanic thursday to see what he thinks. what would be the easiest and best bang for the buck swap???
thanks

One of the reasons this board exists is to help us avoid making the same mistake someone else already made.
Specifically, DP vs. VS. Honestly, I can't think of a reason to use a VS carb in a performance application. Towing, perhaps, but not on a vehicle where you talk about 1/4 mile ETs.
See this post https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=192317 . Look at the linked chart. Draw a line using your values.
Any doubt now whether your 650 DP is too much?

The "mistake" I'm referring to at the top of this reply was buying a 750 VS 2 years ago instead of a 750 DP. Summit says the Proform 750 DP main body is on its way to my doorstep.

Can the HO heads take that much lift w/o machining?
Make sure the intake you're considering is for Vortecs.

i know. i have yet to talk to him about it yet.
i am concerned about the lift but from what i hear you can't machine these heads to much because they come pretty much set to their potential.

Yes I agree, I wasn't aware of that either but after talking to the sales man I was surprised to find out there was. After looking at the intake he was right

Will the intake ports on this intake cover the raised intake ports on the vortec heads. Being drilled for both isn't the only consideration.

That's not a Vortec intake. The dual-pattern things are typically "normal" SBC that have been drilled and can be bolted to Vortec heads. They don't line up properly with Vortec ports, however.
Use a proper Vortec manifold.
