I have a 1405 with manual choke but it is basically the same carb. They run good.

I have run both a Q-jet and holley 4160 on the same motor both stunk. With the edelbrock it has great throttle response(no bog), good horsepower and torque (not as much on the very top end as the Q-jet or Holley because it is smaller cfm), if you can keep your foot out of it you can get great mileage. All I did when I took it out of the box was bolt it on, set the idle mixture and idle speeds, and that was it. I am thinking of leaning down the cruise air/fuel mix 4% or 8% by changing rods and changing the spring to a 8 in/hg spring to help my fuel economy(I used a wideband O2 sensor and am running 13.2:1 at cruise speeds and am planning to lean it down to 14-14.5:1) I am getting 16-18 mpg in my 305 powered G20 Van overall I am happy. I am hoping to get 20 with that change.

If you have the 1406 you have to have vacuum advance.

For 5 days i ran a 1406, no complaints here.
