q-jet problems

I've got a HUGE fuel leak coming out of the fuel inlet going into the carburetor. We had to rethread it before because of leaks, but it has finally stripped out. I've got a 78 q-jet off of a truck that has a 350, and i was wondering if i can take the top half of my stock computer controlled q-jet and put it on top of the bottom half of my 78 non CC q-jet. Or am I just getting my self into a mess? the only other thing i can really do is buy a new carb, or JBweld it and put in an inline fuel filter, right?

Which part did you re-thread? The "small" threads for the fuel line, or the "big" threads for the fuel filter?

No, that won't work. Way too much stuff won't line up.

They make "thread tapping" fuel inlet nuts for those, in a couple of oversizes. I hate using them but sometimes it's the only way.

It's a pretty common problem. I think in addition to overtorquing them, they corrode from the dissimilar metals... I've had numerous carbs where every single screw hole's threads were bad, and filled with white powder, not metal shavings.

yeah, we got one of those oversized self-tapping nuts at napa, that's when we rethreaded it. i guess i can look for a bigger size, or put in an inline filter

we ended up jbwelding the nut into the carburetor, but i still gotta rig up an inline filter. My question now is can i buy a computer controlled q-jet from any companies, or am i gonna have to check junkyards?
