dual carb system

Im considering going with a dual carb system on my '84 berlinetta. I was woundering if i could find a dual carb intake manifold or if i would have to get one custom built, and if using a dual carb system would even be worth it. The carb i was thinking about putting in was the performer RPM by Eldlebrock

note: I recently purchaced the car and havent put any aftermarket parts on the engine yet, im just gathering info and deciding what parts to buy for when i go to rebuild the engine

You can buy dual carb manifolds. Why do you want dual carbs, anyway? Is this a show car?

Waay to hard to tune for the typical car guy. Stick with a single plenum intake and 1 carb. Money better spent for ease and performance. Unless like mentioned it's a show car and needs the cool factor.

Edelbrock has a dual carb manifold. They will even sell you a crate engine with the dual carb setup.

yeah, but they have single carb motors as well that make more power and i think cost less....dual carbs, unless your going with some BIG power, are really not worth the money.

no its not a show car. i was just unsure if dual carbs would ram more air into the engine and make bigger power or not. aparently its cheaper and makes more sence to just stick with a single carb huh.

i couldnt reply before because for some reason AOL doesnt want to let me post or reply at all. I constantly get this page to come up and say im not logged in or that i dont have access to the page, which makes no sence because i can post on my school computers.

Dual carbs used to make more power 40 years ago when all that was available was a limited selection of small OEM 4 bbls. Now that you can get pretty much any size carb you want there's not much point.

As Apeiron said the dual carb manifolds are more for the older cars that had a small selection of small carbs. Using the dual carb set up your motor will not produce a strong ewnough vacume signal at either carb to effectivelty atomize the fuel, not to mention the Tuning nightmare you'd have. Once tuned a 72 lotus europa it had 4 1 barrel carbs it was annoying to get them tuned the same and even worse to get the linkage to pull equally on all 4 carbs.
