Way to check if secondaries are opening completely?
My secondary shaft seemed a little tight on this new-to-me carb I got and I'm wondering if there's a way I can tell if they go wide open or not.

I've never tried it, but if I wanted to know, this is what I'd try.
1) Disconnect diaphragm link from throttle shaft.
2) With a piece of paper about an inch or so across, poke the link through the paper and run the paper up to the bottom of the diaphragm housing.
3) Reconnect link.
4) Take it out and drive at WOT. Mark position of paper on the link. If the secondaries will open by hand (you have to open the throttle to allow the secondaries to open) farther than the paper went down the link, they aren't opening up all the way.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet since I store the car at my parents' place two hours away. I think it's ok, though, because I got to take it for a spin last time I was home and it pulls really strong. I will still try your suggestion when I get the chance.

If you don't want to disconnect the link, do the same as Five7 said, but use a paper-clip instead of a peice of paper.

The issue is insuring your system of monitoring doesn't affect the operation. A paper clip should work, as long as it is stiff enough to stay put, but loose enough to slide on the shaft as the secondaries open.
Shoot, why not rig up a camcorder to watch it?

I tried the paperclip method. I made a couple 0" vac runs and the paperclip was pushed down some but when I manually opened the secondaries all the way it pushed the paperclip a lot more, it looked like they only opened about half way. Maybe I'll try it again with paper just to make sure that the paperclip wasn't too tight on there.

Hmm, ok I guess that makes sense because it pulls pretty strong under WOT and doesn't feel like there's a problem there. It's still doing something weird at cruise in sixth gear, though. Maybe I'll call Holley tomorrow and see what they say.
