yay new car
okay, i finally got the 84 camaro that ive had my eye on for so long
its a crate 350, when they droped the 350 in, they just used all stock parts.
The guy did exhaust work to it, headers, y pipe, no cat, flomaster
says he got a shift kit put on it
okay, ive had a 305 tpi, and it seems that the tpi may be a little quicker than my 350, well at least right off the bat it is.
Should I go out and get my carb rebuilt?
also, i just put a k&n air filter on it, i plan on getting a dual snorkle intake.
what should be my next mod?

by all stock pieces do you mean this is a stock q-jet?? q-jets can actually provide enough performance for a mildly modded 350. if the 350 is in complete stock form...don't know which "crate" motor you have, but it should have a little more noticeble difference compared to the 305.

also, im new to the whole carb thing, so could you please give me any tips/suggestions?
when i goto nail it, it bogs down on me and doesnt do anything, does that mean i need to get the carb rebuilt?
also, there are a bunch of sensors and **** that arent hooked up and i dont know what they are for (ill take some pictures later, my friend has my digital camera)

FIRST OF ALL we need to know what kind of carb you have. since you stated a bunch of sensors mounted to it that it is most likely a qjet. once we have that narrowed down we can take it a bit further.

it has to be a quadrajet because the guy told me when they did the engine swap they just used all stock parts.
but im talking about wire connectors just laying around on the intake manifold not hooked up to anything, i still need to get my hands on my digital camera.
im sorry if im not being too clear, the only reason i bought the car is because it runs really smooth/it was a good offer/and i wanted it.
i know i know, i shouldnt have bought the car without first looking into it a bit more, but im not really concerned about that, im just happy that i now own another camaro (my 86 tpi is dead)

well first you need to find out the type of carb. dont just go assuming by stock parts he just threw a q-jet on. get some pics. dont post again until you have pics or part numbers.
if i have learned one thing on this site its people need details so its useless for someone who is new to carbs to assume something. reguardless pics need to be uploaded since many people know what they are looking at better then discriptions.
just a suggestion though.

oh yeah, about those sensors, the guy had removed the ac pump because the bracket wouldnt fit with the headers he got put on it. so i think the two sensor hookups are for the ac pump.
but what should i do about the bog when I nail it, i've never worked on a carb before, Ive been reading the carb boards and I dont know what a secondary is or anything, all the cars ive ever worked on were fuel injection.

There are two excellant books out there, both cost about the same and cover about the same information (and have about the same title - "Rochester Carburetors") - one is the Haynes shop manual on carbs, and the other is written by Doug Roe. Check for them at your local parts store or amazon.com. Either book will lead you through the basics of carb operation, and contain specific information on getting yours to work properly.
After you've digested the basics, you'll then learn the quadrajet bog is a function of the "air valve" opening too quickly. That is controlled by a combination of the choke pull-off and AV tension spring adjustment. It can also be affected by proper choice of secondary rods & hanger.
