Alright, I have no clue what type of Carb i got on my car (im assuming its a stock carb, i got a few pics of it, and here they are

And from another angle

while everybody is looking at this, ive played around with adjusting the idle, and it seems it will either be to high an idle (and not shut off on me) or to low and die on me... Anybody got a clue as in why this is going on?

what you have there is a rochester vera-jet 2-bbl. Its like you cut a Q-jet in half from front to back. Im my experience with that carb I would almost always replace it with a weber or a holley 2-bbl. The idea of a vera-jet is was never performance but nether was a 2.8, but you will see a performance increase in the weber or the holley.

Vera-jet

If you really want to wake that 2.8 up go to an Edelbrock 3785 base and 3789 top and a Holley 8007 390 CFM 4 barrel. You will never get that Rochester Vera-jet to work right. I had one on a 305 and it was not working right when I got rid of the car.
