Need Help Edelbroc

Hey, I just got my car running again tonight, and when i was out on the test drive all seemed well. But when i opened it up to about 4grand the car bogged and stalled. It did this one more time when i did it. When i finally got home, my dad gave me the timing light he thought he threw away. And i checked it. It was Way up around ~20ish. So i set it to 7 (the tab is kinda dirty i'll have to clean it.) but it sounds good.

So my question is, i assume that the reason is it bogged. So you ask what is your Carb. I only know that it's an edelbroc (i think 600), how can i tell by looking at it so i can give you more information?...

You can look for the model number stamped in the front of the base of the carb on the right side, but there's not much difference between them, they're all pretty similar except for the flow ratings.

Was that 20-ish and 7 with or without the vacuum advance hooked up?

correct, vaccum unhooked, and not plugged. After turning it back i thought about that, do i plug the vac. advance? Or do i leave it open i've always done it open but not sure if this is right.

Whether you plug the vacuum line or not won't affect setting the timing as long as the vacuum is unhooked from the distributor.

i unhooked it from the carb. The line that goes to the vac. Advance on the distributor, i took off then set it to 7.

the numbers i found were 1405 and 1024 the 1405 was farthest to the left if your looking from the front of the car. Hopefully this helps. Also, would getting a vacuum guage help me tune it or what?

Muirner

I just drove it, and last night when it bogged when i stepped on it, today it kinda hesitated a second then took off.

Dont know if anyone can suggest a bracket for my automatic kickdown cable, and the one that hooks up to the peddle but if you could that'd be great.

i just went to go start it and show a friend, but when i went to start it the car wouldnt start. Not sure what the deal is, i have gas i can tell, but dont know what's causing the non start. Will fiddle with it tomorow, but something tells me it's going to be with the timing (any speculations?) It was working earler and i didnt touch it.

try some 'starter spray'.

that will tell you if the ignition is doing anything.

starter spray goes into the carb, or air cleaner snout,
whatever.

if it won't run for a few seconds, --> ignition problem.

wire the choke open, when you do this

my edlebrock 1405 is an sob to get started after I leave it sit for a few days. One of these days I'll run the choke cable. I used a stock transmission cable bracket

How did you handle the fuel delivery set-up when you went from EFI to carb?

lol, i wish i could tell you this, because i bought the car pre-swapped. So how it was handled is out of my hands.

As for it not running, today i decided to do some general trouble shooting, and when i look inside the car my gas guage says empty, but when i move the throttle it sprays gas. My guess is i need some more gas in my tank and i could be ok.
