Wanting to build a CCC Carb setup
Hello all! I have a 84 LG4 system on a 350, with headers, performer intake, and 1.6 rockers. But my harness is all cut up, and the thing really doesnt run that good. I still have the problem of the high-rpm breaking up. What i want, is a new harness, and better ECM. Did GM use any different ECM's with teh different carb setups? Or should i just swap to Non-CC. I like the CCC Setup, good fuel economy. So what should i do?

I've heard the '85-'87 were different than the earlier ones, and a little better. But, I couldn't back that up with any real data.
If you have decent junkyards in your area, you may be able to find one of the later ones that hasn't been hacked up and pull everything out of it. I think I'd try that, and it should be cheaper than converting to non-CC.

I don't know your preferences but unless you have to pass an emissions test or you're just a die-hearted fan of that "jewel" (sarcasm) called the cc-qjet, scrap it...gas is going down by the day so soon there will be no real advantage of the cc-qjet setup but to each his own and good luck whichever way you choose to go.

junk the cc carb as well as the distributor and get a comp 9000...had one for 10 years and haven't even had to change the cap or button let alone the module...as for the carb....you can get rebuilts all day for 100 bucks...

More than likely, the best option for getting it running properly and for the least amount of money, is to fix what you've got. As you have already assumed, it certainly is the better choice from the standpoint of long term operating costs. Gas isn't going to stay this cheap forever - next year this time I'm sure we'll be looking back longingly to today's "good old days of cheap gas". I can certainly remember being shocked at having to pay $2/gal - it wasn't that long ago, and better economy saves money whether gas is $1.75/gal or $3.50/gal.

Alrite. Ill try to fix what ive got. Do i need to throw new secondaries in the CCC, b/c at wide open throttle, it pops through the carb. would that be a lean condition, or an igniton problem? it sucks, because in second gear, i have to let off the gas to let it shift. i think i may have a fuel starvation problem. Last time i checked, timing was advanced 6*.

If you aren't maintaining fuel supply to the carb, then nothing else you do is going to help.
If ignition isn't up to snuff, then nothing you do to the carb is going to help (6 degrees base timing is probably okay).

would a stock 305 fuel pump be enogh to feed it at high rpms? and recently, ive been getting that thing, where the tach jump around , and the motor acts like its going to die. Any ideas? I really appreciate the help!

A stock pump will be fine.
If you tach is jumping around and the engine almost dies, that's indicative of a failing ignition system, most likely the ignition module and/or coil.
