Attaching TV Cable to Edelbrock Carb Throttle Arm
Hey guys. I am doing a carb swap from a 1990 MAP TPI system and am having trouble connecting the throttle cable and kickdown cable.
For those of you that did the Edelbrock carb setup, where can you get the hardware to attach the actual cable to the throttle arm? The carb comes with a little stud but it doesnt fit for my cable. I have the throttle cable that has the little metal cylinder looking thing at the end, and the kickdown cable that has the little black teardrop snap on peice. How do I get these connected?

Well I found the stud for the tranny cable (EDL-8018), but now just to find out how to hook up the throttle cable...anyone?

at your local parts store there is usually a performance display(at least here there is) and some places sell the holley ball stud kits to hook up throttle linkage; that may be what you are looking for. i know my kickdown stud came off a holley.

Na, it wouldnt be the ball stud that I need (one actually came with the carb), I need a stud to hold down my cable end which sort of looks like this
_
l l______________
Ll
<End
I have the picture of the stud in my head, like I know how I could fab one up to work, but I dont have the tools for it, haha. I quickly made a mockup in my engineering program, to give you a visual as to what im looking for.

That is what it would look like if you were standing at the drivers side fender looking at the carb. The end cylinder on the cable would slip into the pocket in that stud, and the cable would fit into that groove. The cylinder part would be the threaded part that you would stick through the throttle arm and fasten with a nut.

You need the following:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
This piece, although expensive for what it is, corrects the geometry for the TV cable, and has the stud included.
And if you don't have, get this too:

This is the best bracket I found anywhere - it's nice chrome and very strong - all the others I tried would bend as pressure accumulated on the TV cable. The individual pieces slide and adjust so you can get the cables (even cruise control) to line up correctly.

That one still doesnt have a connector for the throttle cable, or so it seems. Is there something else that might work?

If you look at it, the one connector that is a part of the piece is the TV connector. There are various studs included that screw into the hole at the other end (longer end) that the throttle cable connects to - look at the bigger pic of it. It was perfect for my stock 1992 (same as 1990) TBi throttle cable.

Which of those three studs was the one for the throttle cable? It doesnt look like any would work. Remember my cable has the small metal cylinder on the end.
