Carb Idle
Ok so i can't figure out why my Q-Jet is Idling to high. It runs around 2500 rpms. A lot of people say that it is a vaccum leak but im not sure. The other day I was checking it out. Fumes are coming out the exhaust, like excess gas. Is it possible that it is just running too rich, so it is idling fast?

Factory spec is 0 degrees (TDC) at idle with the flat 4-wire connector from the distributor base to the firewall harness disconnected.

We have a very unusual car.
If you like I can go out and take a picture of the emissions decal under the hood. Yours probably has it unless it has suffered a catastrophic event.
If your EGR valve is operating properly, you can probably give it as much as 6 degrees BTDC base with no ill effects.
