Edelbrock 1406 Lines
Edelbrock 1406 Lines
I just noticed on my Edelbrock 1406 that the fuel connect and other lines do not hook up the same way as my old Quadrajet. Why is this? Is there some sort of kit I can get so I can reroute everything to the right place on the Edelbrock carb????
Any help is appreciated!

it does not fit because an edelbrock carb is not a quadrajet. you will probably have to replace the fuel line from the pump to the carb, and the linkage should be the same, just swap over the studs if you have to. pics are helpful too. and the edelbrock is non emmissions so there will be some extra hoses and wiring

If you havent already you will also need to replace youre distributor to a non-cc HEI or youre car wont run very well.
You can cut the metal line and clamp a rubber hose to it then direct it to youre 1406's fuel inlet, saves buying a new line to go from the pump.
AUTO TRANS ONLY:
Im not 100% but i think you also need to find away to lock up the TTC or you will burnout the 3rd to 4th clutch pack also you will need a new T.V cable bracket for youre trans to work corectly because youre old Q-jet one will not work with the Edelbrock.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 Lines
I'm not sure about the linkages, I switched over to a TH350 when I did the carb/motor swap. As for the lines, Russel (which is owned by Edelbrock) makes a kit that will bolt up to the carb and bring the line to basically the stock location. Go to http://www.russellperformance.com/au...s_street.shtml it is part number 651100 or 651099. Then you just have to either run all new line, or put an adapter to go to rubber hose on the end of it.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 Lines
Okay, so I have a temporary setting for my gas line right now (and some ideas, which is pretty awesome. Now, for all my pedals and such, what kind of mechanism do I need for my drivers side of my Camaro? They all don't match up right now, what do I need to buy? Also, the left **** on my carb doesn't do anything (for changing the carb settings). Easy fix???

This is the side of the Edelbrock. It doesn't have stud for the kickdown, but it does for the acceleration.

This is the side of the Quadrajet. It used to have a spring in the hole that is noted above. I am told that it is not necessary anymore for that spring. You'll see the kickdown and accelerator studs in that picture.
Is there an adaptor plate? I'll have to drill a hole in the Edelbrock to get the kickdown stud to fit, and I really don't want to. Is there something I can buy and swap on so it will all work properly?

Your transmission doesn't have a "kickdown" cable, it has a "throttle valve" cable. The geometry of the throttle arm, mounting stud and cable bracket are essential to the operation and longetivity of the transmission. There are a number of products on the market which will allow you to get it working properly.
You'll still need to use a throttle return spring with the Edelbrock.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 Lines
So if I was to buy a universal throttle bracket (on the Edelbrock website) for a Chevy small/big block, will everything attach accordingly? I know I'm throwing random, terribly obvious, and amateur questions at you, but I can't afford to do things wrong.

Possibly, if you get one that's listed for use with the 700R4.
