No fuel pressure?
I just installed a new Aeromotive A1000 pump, when I turn the key forward, the pressure comes up to 6 like it should and slowly back down like normal.
But when the car is running the gauge is reading below 0. Its mechanical right on the regulator. I tried turning the pressure up until it overcame the floats and spewed gas out the carb. That was kind of scary. So it definitely is getting pressure.
When I first started the car, there was a slow dribble out of the secondary ring. After I pumped the gas a few times it stopped. Pressure was still at zero. I didnt see any other leaks in the carb. No leaks elsewhere.
Any ideas here?

Re: No fuel pressure?
could be a faulty guage...had an instance where the guage was showing 3psi, kept bumping up the pressure until fuel blew out the top of the carb. I changed nothing and borrowed my buddies guage and it read 13.5psi!
Did you check to see what voltage was reaching the pump with the car running?

Re: No fuel pressure?
No, I didnt check to see what voltage was at the pump. I used the stock wiring and it might be insufficient for a higher draw motor.
It is liquid filled. Since I'm using the factory wiring, the pump comes on briefly when I turn the key forward to prime to the system, then the pump shuts off like normal. When it does that, the gauge reads the pressure. So it would seem that it is working??
After I start the car though, it reads 0. So I thought maybe the pump isnt putting out enough, and turned up the pressure until fuel blew out the top of the carb. Strange.
So I was getting more pressure than gauge was reading obviously, but why would it work initially? I've been wanting to get a new one to put in the car so I could see what the pressure is as I'm running the car in relation to boost, but the electrical ones and sender are so darn expensive....

Re: No fuel pressure?
Ok, I made a few answers today. I made a mistake, and noticed that the gauge was NOT at 0 but had wrapped all the way around to 17 psi!!!!!
The initial 6 psi was after I had just installed the pump and the lines were dry I guess. I turned the pressure all the way down and still only got it to about 15.
Im running -8 AN feed line and 3/8 (-6) return line. That shouldnt be a restriction right? I pulled the line off the tank and it was flowing super. Maybe a little too well?
I do have a -4 AN hose connector in the return though, I'll pull that out and put the right one in and see what happens....I really dont want to run new return line....

Re: No fuel pressure?
I was also using the old supply line since it is 3/8 and larger than the 5/16 return line. I forgot about the inline filter. Whoops. Hopefully I didnt push a bunch of junk into the tank.

You have the right spring in the regulator? Some regulators have a high pressure spring and a low pressure spring. If you use the high pressure spring it can't adjust low enough on the screw to get you down to a carb-friendly level.
