replace Q-jet?

I rebuilt this q-jet ccc and it just seems like it still isn;t running right. My question what type of carb can I replace with it without replacing anything else?

I can get up to around 45 mph and then press on the gas and just seems there is no power.

I might just tear down the carb again and go back thru the steps of rebuilding it.

It is really hard to start also once it's cooled down. And when it does start I have to keep the pedal pressed or it will die but once it gets warmed up it will stay cranked but has rough idle to it.

I'am no expert on carbs, but does edelbrock make a CC carb that will work?

Re: replace Q-jet?

Rebuilding a q-jet isn't a quick and easy thing to do, there are many details you have to be aware of. Clearly when you rebuilt it the first time, something was overlooked. So far as any other manufacturer making a replacement for the computer controlled carb, unfortunately, no. Holley does make a quadrajet remanufactured carb using a refurbished q-jet carb with all new and clean workings.

Re: replace Q-jet?

I only use Holley carbs, other will argue differently but i have no issues with tuning and rebuilds are a snap.

Good info, but it's still a rebuilt Qjet, not an aftermarket version of the same.

Re: replace Q-jet?

I know he's looking for a new replacement for it.Just giving him a heads up on rebuilt one's,since you cant get new ones, although some people can almost rebuild them to that point.

I agree, it's very hard to find a good Qjet replacement. If you look in most parts catalogues they might have one Qjet, usually for a 60's or 70's GM. It's hard to find a well built Qjet with a warranty.
