Jetting my Carb for track

Hey!!

This weekend, I will be going to the track for the first time, and I need help preparing my car for it. Specs are in sig, I was just wondering if the jets in my 650 dp (6210-3) I have now ( 62 primaries, 76 secondaries) will be a good baseline for my car to run without the risk of running lean... I will post pictures of my spark plugs tomorrow. Also, the temperature is supposed to be a little cooler @ 68 *F

Thanks in Advanced!!

It comes with 83's in the secondaries from Holley. I think you'd better fatten it up a bit.

I did orignally have the 83's in there, but it was way too much for my car, car bogged down quite a bit, so you do think I should fatten it up, I was thinking 64's in the front and 78's in the back or something..

60/83 is the stock jetting with a PV in primaries only. The typical jetting need involves moving both primaries and secondaries up or down.

How exactly did it "bog down" with stock jetting?

Re: Jetting my Carb for track

well before I had a 2400 rpm stall, When I punched it from a dead stop, it would bog down and stall right away... So I put in smaller secondaries, keeping the primaries stock (wasn't sure if it was 60 or 62) and now when i punch it, the car doesn't want to stall and just pulls hard! Also, I have 30 cc pumps on both primary and secondary and .31 shooters..and I have a blue cam pump @1 on secondaries and a red pump @1 on primaries..

update, here are some bad pictures of my spark plugs, I knew the heat range was wrong so I did change them to r43ts today (were originally r45ts).. car runs smoother now as well and has more power.

Should be 50cc pump on the secondaries, tiny squirter on the primaries and large on the secondaries.

What you did, if it really was bogging, should have made it worse. Something isn't adding up here.

Re: Jetting my Carb for track

hmmmm... I did change the shooters, but they were orginally .36 or something larger than what I have now.. Once I changed the secondary jets, and the shooters the car ran great. It was running very very rich before hand as well, thats why it bogged.

I was told by numerous people that my engine didn't need a 50 cc pump in the secondaries and 30 cc would work to my advantage cus of the smaller cam... :S

EDIT:

I just drove my car down on open highway @ full throttle, I just replaced the secondary pump cam arm to a blue one,(already mentioned-before it was red as well) and now it seems like its running rich cus when i floored it, I saw a small cloud of black smoke coming from the exhaust...
