300 bucks????
Ok so I've finally saved up enough money to get around to fixing my super rich carb problem. I was going to just replace it but a new carb is 300 dollars
.So i guess I'm gonna get it rebuilt does anyone know where i can send it to get rebuilt for less than 300 bucks. If you have any information i appreciate it

Re: 300 bucks????
I do it
I have a carb on ebay under the username green2005james
or you could send me your carb and 120 and I will make sure it comes to you dialed in
if there are any parts that need to be replaced I have enough to make several carbs.
my carbs also come with a warranty
call me at 618-201-7114

I did my first carb rebuild at 17. It was the WCFB on the '57. A lot more complicated than the CC q-jet.
Basically you follow the instructions in the rebuild kit.

I dont want you to get ripped off either
give it a shot yourself, if you run into problems ask the guys on these boards
they are quite helpfull
one good idea I can give is take alot of pictures, I do this every time I am working on a unfamiliar engine.
it really helps with reassembly to know where every little piece goes

Re: 300 bucks????
That's the mixture control solenoid. You should be able to enlarge the hole a little to fit it. The gasket was probably cut for an older non-computer Quadrajet that had the usual power piston instead.

Good to hear. A lot better than 300 bucks, wouldn't you say? Or, even $120.

Re: 300 bucks????
It's a start, I doubt it's your problem but I know mine acts up every now and then. You can let it idle and romp on the gas all you want and the idle wont drop down. Then, drive 50 feet and the idle drops. It's really weird.
