Leaking Qjet

"Vent Tube to Canister" leaking like crazy out the top vent too.

I accidentally shot to much psi to my Qjet.

lil 7psi pump + TBI intake pump = leaks

i thought the intank pump was turned off but it wasnt. im guessing 50+psi to my little Qjet.

Now after the engine starts, the overflows from the vents.

Is the needle stuck?

Re: Leaking Qjet

I took the Qjet apart and found a small piece that looked like a spring floating around.
Cleaned out the bowl and put it back together. Same problem.

I have spare Holley 600's that could use a rebuild
or
Rebuild the Qjet w/ new parts. *which kit, there is a $20 or do i need metering valves etc..

Im not good "tuning" either but the Holley would be easier to rebuild.
Will the Holley need a spacer to work w/ my GM Qjet intake?

Im getting really frustrated w/ this thing.

Have you looked this over yet? https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/carb...e-rebuild.html

Figure 6C1-2, upper left corner, is a picture of the needle/seat and float. A little clip goes on the needle and clips to the float. Do you have that?

Did you check for junk in the needle/seat? That's the most likely.

Have you checked the fuel filter lately?

Have you checked the float for proper "floating"? If it's soaked with fuel, it won't float properly and shut off the fuel flow.

A Holley would require an adapter to mount to the intake manifold, new lines, throttle cable adapters, new distributor, etc., etc., etc. How much frustration does it take for you to put yourself through even more?

Have you checked the fuel filter lately? New Qjet and inline filter after (7psi max 12v) pump. At the rear w/ intake pump NO

I installed my spare Edlebrock carb that was to be used on my 68 Camaro. Same leaking problem........

Runs fine for a min or so, then rich, then fuel everywhere. After that...

I removed (in this order) the fuel relay plug, ECM plugs, oil pressure plug, in thoughts that the intake pump is still being activated.

Pulled everything back off!!! (I had 2 small oil leaks so it had to be done anyway)
Carbs, intake, dizzy etc..
Put on new intake gaskets made sure everything is perfect.
Installed it back on and left it so, the RTV will cure.

My last idea is to find the plug at the tank and pull it. In case someone hot wired it.

Okay, let's get some things straight:

Do you have a return-style fuel pressure regulator? If not, you should.

Are you saying the flooding is occurring while the car is sitting without the engine running or key on? Still, with a proper regulator, it shouldn't be flooding the carb. Running the battery down, perhaps, but not flooding.

Are you saying the flooding is occurring while the car is sitting without the engine running or key on? Key on , no flooding. The car will start run for a min then go crazy. I thought the ECM was telling the Intank to kick on and causing the flooding. again Fuel Pump Relay is disconnected.

Still, with a proper regulator, it shouldn't be flooding the carb. Running the battery down, perhaps, but not flooding. Ive blown the budget a long time ago. and cant afford a $80 regulator, The 7psi max pump should regulate pressure to the carb. But if everything worked the way it should, i wouldnt be writing this.

Jacked up the Rear
Unplugged the Tank Harness
Purrs like a kitten.

Someone must have hot wired it.

I think by pulling the the tankharness i lost my fuel gauge, is that right or do you know what wires control it?

Okay, I think I finally understand. Sounds like you resolved it.

I'm not sure which wires are the fuel level sensor and which are the fuel pump. You could try to trace them down.

BTW, pulling through a non-operating in-tank is fuel starvation waiting to happen. Makes more sense to get a return-style reg and have the in-tank operating. If not that, then drop the tank and pull the in-tank.
