Dual snorkel setup attempt on Trans Am

I'm trying to fabricate a dual snorkel setup on my 84 TA using stock parts.

I obtained a stock single snorkel LG4 air cleaner from a junk yard, hacked off the snorkel, and will soon attach it to the passenger side of the air cleaner on the car.

I was trying to figure out a way to route the second snorkel over to the passenger head light, like on the driver side, and had some trouble because I don't have the flattened scoop end piece thing for the passenger side of the car. The battery and alternator are also in the way.

Then I looked closely at the stock driver side air inlet scoop and am wondering how the heck this thing gets any air with the sharply sloping TA hood closed over it.

It seems like the Fire birds were at a disadvantage to the Camaros in this area.

Does any one have any ideas for a better place to route the snorkels too? If I just tuck them behind the head lights will they get any cold air or will they pick up hot engine bay air?

Try and run them through the hole right in front of the fender well.it will literally sit inside the fender. Ive seen it done but only on the side of the car without the batterie. I too will make this attempt next week. I am using the ebay CAI. and yes these dam cars get hot under the hood.

I used a stock scoop. I flipped it upside-down and re-cut the opening on the front edge. The length is shorter than the driver's side scoop, but unless you're looking, it's not noticeable.

I didn't notice any gains other than the engine compartment looking better.

Re: Dual snorkel setup attempt on Trans Am

I think the factory location for those scoops is terrible. I really don't see how any air gets to the scoops with the hood closed. It probably has to squeeze through the tiny gap between the hood and back edge of the head light doors, not a good idea.

Might be a better idea routing the ducting to somewhere in the nose.
