1984 trans am stock carb sticking
so i have a 1984 trans am with a stock carb that recently was set to idle to high after lowering the screw on the throttle and fixing the idle, a new prob came up, now the throttle gets stuck when ever the throttle is pushed in, when i turn the car off for a few minutes and come back it goes away until i push the gas in, i tried putting WD-40 on the throttle arm with no diffrence and its really weird and make the car really hard to drive (It does not slow down/hard to stop). so i wanted to know if anyone has had this problem before or knows how to fix it
-Thanks

IMO I would be looking at a better throttle spring.

Bypass, it looks to me like something bad is going on with the accelerator pump. What is all that material around the shaft? Do you have an electric choke and if you do, do you have 12 volts to it?

Your throttle shaft is worn and manifold vacuum makes it hang up.
Clicking is the MCS working normally.

Rebuilding the E4ME is easy to do; all it takes is time and patience.
With the condition the outside of the carb looks it might be a good idea to rebuild it.
There are many sources here on TGO and elsewhere that will show you exactly what to do.

Rebuild kits won't address that at all. If that's actually the problem, you'd need to disassemble the base and bush the throttle shafts.

You can tell they're worn by checking for play back and forth on the primary shaft (with the throttle open otherwise the butterflys keep it tight). If it wiggles a bit (and I'm sure it will) you'll need to install bushings in the base. You can get the bushings from places like carbs unlimited. Rebuild it while it's apart, why not.
