Will a bigger carb help any???
I was wondering if we put a bigger carb on the IROC if it would make any difference? After we intall the new comp cam, we are estimating about 400 flywheel hp (about 320 to the wheels) and with all the extra hp and maybe a 125 shot of NOS----would adding like a 750 Holly carb work better then the 600 or 650 that is on the car right now, or will it be sufficent to make the hp we need? We are new to this carb thing for performance, so anything you can tell us would be greatly appreciated!

With an engine making 400 hp you would best be served by a 750 Holley instead of a 600. A 600 would gasp for air at higher rpms.
Where in Pa are you located? I'm in Pittsburgh and may be will to Trade you a 750 DP for your smaller carb if it's a DP and is not in need of a rebuild. You can e-mail me at tigbitties99@hotmail.com Thanks Jon
I'm not sure where that is. Are you close to Pittsburgh? Yes, it's a Holley 750 Double pumper. I'm interested in trading for a Holley 650 Double pumper. The carb seems to work fine, just to much for the application. Thanks Jon

The thing about it is I think this carb came with a choke tower and I think someone cut it off. That is where the list number would be at.

Looks alot like a 4779, except it's been converted to 4-corner idle... but like 454 said, the list # was on the choke tower, which is no longer present at the scene of the crime.
Sometimes they stamp the list # on some of the parts; look on the metering blocks, and give us every number you can find; you'll probably have to take the carb apart to see them. I wouldn't worry about doing that, since it obviously needs a rebuild anyway: any time you run a Holley for a while (as that one plainly has) and then let the gaskets dry out, you need to replace them because they always shrink and cause leaks.

Hopefully it is a 750 cfm . Nagga email me about your price for the carb (as is, no kit) and I will buy it from you even though we are not sure what cfm it is.
