T-fitting for PCV size?

I'm in the middle of throwing my (first ever rebuilt) quadrajet on my 305 but it looks like the PO had the pcv hose hooked directly to manifold vacuum where the diagram says it should actually be a t fitting splitting off between the pcv and the EFE tree.

These are wildly different sized vac lines - is there a specific t fitting I will need to make this work? Follow-up, I assume they'll be different size nipples on each side? Would anybody happen to know what sizes both are so I can request it specifically at the store? Thanks!

Without knowing what year your car is, I would say 3/8, 3/8, and about 3/16.

Re: T-fitting for PCV size?

Your local parts store should have those in the small packages on the pegboard. Universal fit.

Re: T-fitting for PCV size?

As a matter of fact I went to three parts stores today and NOBODY had a t fitting with those specific sizes. I'm actually pulling my hair out over it. Am I doing something wrong?! May just have to wait for Amazon but I was really trying to finish this up Saturday.

Re: T-fitting for PCV size?

How much of the factory rats nest of tubing is still connected? There's no reason the PCV needs to tee into anything. Sounds like the previous owner 'deleted' some of the rats nest. Not much reason to jump thru flaming hoops to hook all that garbage back up.

Re: T-fitting for PCV size?

It's all there except this one piece. The previous owner just hooked the PCV directly to the manifold vacuum and the EFE TVS was routed to the vacuum sensor like it should be on one end and the other port was left broken and exposed. I figure i may as well hook it back up the way it's meant to be if this is the only thing missing. As I like to say "I'm building a time machine, not a race car!"

Re: T-fitting for PCV size?

Mine is the same way from the factory as his.
Here are a few diagrams you can use to clean up your hoses, especially if you are deleting some of the emissions components.

That last one would be perfect if it included the EGR.

Not really much to do with race car or street car etc... GM was trying to accomplish something, and ended up with a Rube Goldberg mess under the hood. Most of the time, enough of the stuff is messed up, that it's not worth trying to go back. In your case, sure fix it.

Should be an entire rack of vacuum fittings at your local parts store. Blister packed Ts and rubber caps, reducers, etc purple cards iirc.

Re: T-fitting for PCV size?

Last diagram - EGR would connect to "J" via the EGR TVS or EGR solenoid, depending what your car has..

Re: T-fitting for PCV size?

Thanks for your help everybody! Got it all hooked up and no vacuum leaks as far as I can see! The rat's nest is complete. Whether that's good or bad is ultimately yet to be seen but so far so good!
