Wont start has fuel
Ive got an 82 305. its got a stock quadrajet on it. Thing ran fine a few weeks ago. Parked it and now it wont start. Thing acts like its not getting any fuel.
If I dump gas or starter fluid down the throat it starts and runs fine until it burns that gas off. Stepping on the gas immediately kills it.
I pulled the fuel inlet line and it pumps gas. I I know gas is getting into the carburetor. My first thought went to clogged idle jet. but something about that does not seem right. It just didn't sit that long. So I thought I would check here for some other opinions. Ideas on what to check out before tearing into the carb?

Stuck needle? Have you tried smacking the carb near the float area with a hard thing?
Might want to tear into the carb anyhow. If you're pumping fuel, and it runs when you put fuel or starting fluid in it, not much else to suspect.

Sounds like whatever is in your carb is not fuel. Probably has water down in the jet wells.
Might want to take it off, turn it upside down, and spray starting fluid (it mixes with both water and gasoline) liberally into all the holes while upside down. Then put it back on and try again.
