You stated "I don't know jack s*** a bout cars" . Then why are you trying to out-engineer, the engineers who designed your car?

Why don't you just fix the equipment that GM put on hundred of thousands of 5.0 . Describe the problem/goal and folks here will try to help.

What's on the car now? Standard or automatic transmission? An 85 with a working quadrajet is a pretty decent combination, especially with a 5 speed. .

You can get an edelbrock intake for the spread bore quadrajet. Swapping to an edelbrock and new distributor wont be an upgrade for your car.

To do a computer delete you will need a new distributor and something to do tq converter lock up. Then you will also need a wide band O2 and gauge + vacuum gauge and rod / jet kit to tune the carb

Shipping right now is a mess seems like. Wife buys a lot of crap online and it's a daily gripe that stuff is lost or shown delivered and it's still getting shuffled around out there somewhere.
