Can vaccum lines cause rich situation?
If I screwed up something on the installation of the vacuum lines to the Holley, could that cause an overly rich situation? I got gas comming out the tailpipe, my A/F gauge is going mental, and my plugs are black!

Dude, there is No way You have gas coming out the tailpipe.
The Possibility og Liquid gasoline Making it all the way through your exhuast W/o Vaporization is Sooo Remote, You would have to Be literally pouring it Into the intake.
The Vaporized gasoline coming out your tailpipe would be Just waiting to Turn your Car and everything around it into the hindenberg
I think you need to look at a blown headgasket. LIquid dripping out of you exhuast is water, not Gas.

I agree with JRR. Super rich is usually too high a fuel pressure and/or too high a float. Also, a slightly leaky inlet valve can cause idle nighmares like this.
But before you freak, try just tighteneing the idle mixture screws down some. 1 turn out from fully seated is a good starting point. Try leaner from there and see if the engine likes it (going EVENLY side to side on the screws a little at a time). Many Holleys run rich on small blocks out of the box.

You'd have to pour GALLONS of gas into the exhaust to get any gas out the tailpipe. If you're exhaust gas is blackish then it's really rich,
Chances are you aren't rich and you're just seeing normal condensation as water is a byproduct of combustion.
However, don't worry about your vaccum lines. You really can't screw them up because vaccum equilizes. Weather I run one port to the power brakes and one to the PCV valve or I run a T the pressure will be the same. If you had a vaccum tube off then you'd run lean (too much air).

Mine is similar, I have an 86 305 from a Firebird, bored 30 over, mild cam, Performer intake, Holey 600 carb, vac secondary, Accell dist, K&N 14" air filter. I have no idea what the timing is set at, but I used 8 gallons of gas in 2 days and never went a hundred miles. I have no leaks that I know of. The engine has about 40,000 miles after the rebuild. It ran rich from the get go. The varb has been rebuilt has new power valves, smaller jets, running at about 3.5 psi of fuel pressure. Just standing around the truck i can smell gas and it gets into my close if I stand around to long.
Any Idea where to start?

A leaky fuel line? A partially closed choke plate?
It's just very difficult to use that much gas unless the carb is WAY out of whack. They all make some smell after you shut them off, that's the nature of carbs. But the poor mileage makes me think something more basic is out of whack.
Keep in mind that driving around you are running 90% of the time on the idle circuits so jet changes often make little change in fuel mileage.

Well, I went from the 72 jets that came in the carb to 68 jets and it idles a lot better. It seems though that the little screw under the choke is hitting the red cam and keeping the idle around 1500. It also looks like I will have to pull the carb off to loosen it... grrr
.
By going to smaller jets, it seems to be smokeing less, but that could be my imagination. My air/fuel gauge is reading way lean so some reason... I bet my O2 sensor is all gunked up. I bet I need to change my plugs too. What a PITA that is with TES headers!
