Q-jet choke problems

I have a 1986 Camaro with 305 4bbl Q-jet. Recently my choke light stays on
all the time. When the choke light is on my voltage gauge drops to around 10, rather than the normal 14. I have cleand the carb with spray cleaner and used fuel aditive. I'm still driving the car even though it is idling high. Also, the car is running cooler. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated!!

It's your alternator. For whatever reason, GM tied the "Choke" light to voltage.

You might have another problem or two (like there really is something wrong with the choke), but the voltage dip is a sure sign.
