Tightening it up

Allright as convertible owners we all know that driving one of these cars is the same as driving a 4x8 piece of plywood as far as flex is concerned. I also expierience a fair bit of cowl shake. What brand of convertible SFC's is everybody using, and who is using a strut tower brace. I know the SFC's are going to improve the car but I'm curious to see what the consensus is with the STB's on these converts. I like the look of the Kenny Brown 3 point STB and wonder if any of the convertible owners out there have one on their car, bottom line are they a worthwhile edition or a waste of cash?

a STB made a diff on my T-top car. I plan to put one in the vert. But I also have a 8point Comp. Eng. cage goin in the vert. so Stiffness will be no problem.

As for SFC's I hear ALSTON or MAC are the good choices for verts

I have a Jamex STB and it seemed to help out a little, but not much. I also have Spohn SFC's and they helped out a lot, even though the installer did a really crappy job. I'm going to have a 6 pt put in eventually.

I've got custom built subframe connectors, a STB and a wonderbar and none of them see to really help as much as I'd like for how hard I drive it. It definitely doesn't do well enough for autocross. Mine is getting a rollcage sometime this year.

I have a 2 pt stb and welded sfc's. That combo helps out somewhat with everyday driving, but its still really not enough. I am patiently waiting for third gen resource to release that roll bar they fabricated for their project car.

I'm pretty sure that theirs is more for appearance and not for functionality.

The single biggest improvement on my car was the Kenny Brown Double Y SFC's. I also run the Jamex STB and some other stuff. Its hard to say exactly ho w much the other stuff helps, but the SFC's definitely did.

wonder bar, little noticable help. alston welded SBC's, more help, 2pnt custom stb, big help with the others in place. My .02 is you need to do at least the STB and SFC,s. I live in the mountians and drive hard twisties everyday. Lots of fun, but for auto cross, probably need to do a 6pt roll bar. ...........bob

Im running a BMR 2-point STB and it made quite a noticeable difference. I haven't done SFC's yet though, but it is definitely on the to-do list.

My $.02, The Kenny Brown SFC's made the biggest inprovment. It was like a different car. I have the Edelbrock TBI three point STB. This did alot cut down on the cowl shake but didn't get rid of it all. I still think it was well worth the money. The wonder bar made the smallest improvment but again worth it. If you have the cash do all three.

I know SFC = Sub-Frame Connectors, But what does STB mean?

Also, I'll probably be dropping a larger engine in this summer. Might go up to low 400hp. I know i'll need to get a good set of SFC's but will that be enough to keep it from turning into a camaro pretzel?

STB?

Strut tower brace. IMO, very helpful in controlling front chassis flex.
