What color is your vert? Any Green Verts?
Well, looking at all of the red thirdgen's out there, I am thinking of going with another color for my car (now it is stripped). One I always liked was an 88 Corvette Convertible in the bowling green, with the tan top. I have only seen a few polo green Camaro's, but no verts. What color is yours? If you have a pic that would be great. Really trying to get an idea on what colors were stock, and hey if you repainted post that as well. Really want to get some ideas. Otherwise it's kandy apple red.

Mine is maroon. Had it repainted in 95 by a chevy dealer. They did an incredible job. 10x better than the factory. The new paint has 55,000 miles on it so its not perfect anymore, but thats mainly my fault
I need to get some better pictures on here, this doesn't do it justice.

Wow, that ruby red is SWEET!
Don't really like the lemonade yellow with the gold trim. A dark canary is cool. Just got my SFC's, wonderbar, and Sway bars powdercoated by TDS in red. So I guess I will be red. Just worried, about different shades of red clashing... Hmmm....

Yeah that ruby red is beautiful! I know how you feel about the color.(code 51 yellow gold) We wanted ours in maroon. Five speed verts were very hard to get in '88. We had the dealer search 6 states to find it, and he came up with only one...in yellow with 379 miles and never titled...we almost didn't buy it ..we didn't like yellow much, but it has really grown on us over the years, and we would not change the color for the world now. My brother had a 5 speed black IROC vert, and he let my wife drive it and that was it, she had to have one, and I would only go for the 5 speed, so we took it in yellow. We had the dealer paint the gold over with yellow the day after we bought it, and we had the only solid color vert on the road till they came out with the RSs in 89.

I have a green vert also. It has an iroc hood now, wrecked it in november 2001, insurance wouldn't pay for me to build another custom hood. It was dark red before.

I was going to go with the dark green that was on the vettes, but it was so dark. The shop we painted it at had a PPG mixing station, so we mixed a bunch of different dark green colors till I found the one I wanted, dark yellow/green from pontiac. Kind of went with the pontiac rims to. It was maroon when I bought it. Here is a pic of it before,

How much are you guys paying to have your 'verts repainted? I was wondering if it is any more costly. Seems like more prep work to mask off the top etc, but less total paint. I have a teal 'vert, but no pics (besides, the paint is peeling on the hood and the rear)

Cost - $3,900
Complete take down to frame
(I already removed the interior and drive train)
Complete repaint Kandy Apple Red
Install 91-92 GFX
install 91-92 Z28 Hi rise spoiler
install SS hood and of course paint it
This is a HIGHLY reduced cost because I am letting him take his sweet time with it. Normally for all that any other shop anywhere in southern california would cost in excess of $6,000. Many quoted me in the $10k-$12k range.

The guy who's doing mine is the very best in this area, and he gives breaks to rodders because of the referrals he gets out of them...he also owns a sweet '34 ford p.u...is charging me $2800.00 for prep and paint for stock color in PPG paint including door jambs, engine compartment, under hood, and trunk ect. It helps that my car needs 0 body work and I'm bringing him the car with the engine out, interior, trunk panels, door panels, carpet removed ect. He's getting me a quote now for all new seals and weather stripping.

Yeah that sounds about right if he's giving you a deal. My car needs some minor bodywork. Not much. The rear floorpan needs to be cut a bit and a new piece welded in as there is a small rust hole from water getting through the old top. Though we are going with HOK which is muy expensive!
Here's some pics

Hell of a fun car, though!

Jstcrzyengh, Your car is going to be sooo sharp in Kandy apple red! where did you get your hood? It really fits well. I'm thinking about getting one like it but I'm not sure if the scoop is forward enough to clear a Holley StealthRam intake. I definatly don't want to cut the structurals on my stock hood for clearance so I have to get something and that SS hood is my favorite. BTW the cost of living in rural TN is about 1/3 that of SoCal, about 1/2 that of Chicago, where I'm from originally, so your price is probably much better than mine for your area.

Well, the fit isnt that great. Will take a bit of work on the car to get it to fit right. You can see in the picture there is about half of an inch from the side of the car. Honestly, it's like that on both sides. However, the engine is out. So I am thinking that I will have less space once the engine is in. Kind of like if you held a piece of paper and you put a weight in the middle the two sides would try to touch from the weight. I am HOPING that will happen

There is a white IROC in my hometown sporting one of those hoods. He doesn't have the IROC Decals on just the IROC GFX emblems. That car looks SHARP.
Being a Vert yours will look even better!
I can't wait to see your finished pics!

Ouch!..didn't see those gaps in the first pic. a lot can usually be done with just loosening the fenders but....I don't know how you would pull in that 1 piece nose.....let me know if your body man gets it to fit ok....What brand is it...because if it gives you trouble I sure don't want that brand....if you can't get a better fit I bet you could get another hood on warranty.....it may be a manufacturing problem.
