These parts are just modified from coupe parts. Go to a pick-a-part or get them off of eBay and trim them to fit. there is a plastic trim piece with internal spring clips that slips over the the newly cut portion. You should be able to find this at JC Whitney or the auto parts store. That type of trim was commonly used decades ago to finish off an edge such as a headliner.

First of all here is a link to a Site sponsor that sells the rear vert sail panels (uncovered)
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/in...?v=1&pid=13473
The only difference I have noticed in the rear sail panels are the lack of seat belt pockets on the 92 vrs the 89 model I have
They changed seatbelt design in 90 I think
My 89 Vert only has one plastic peice in the trunk the rear most peice all others are moulded carpet peices the rear plastic appears the same has the hardtop's with the exception of the holes in the top where the latch meets
lastely if anyone is interested I have these sail panels for sale from a 92 vert

I assume you are referring to the missing piece in the pic where the seatbelt passes through the panel. Is that not the same on the Hard top and the vert?

Maybe...
I'll have to dig a bit to see but I might have the rearmost plastic piece and the passenger side piece... It will be thursday at the earliest that I can look...
Meantime You might try Thirdgen parts in Tampa FL they have had a lot of vert parts over the past few years... The owner had a thirdgen vert of his own that he heavily modified...

I will have two sail panels available soon, after I finish up my interior. I'd say a month or so. If interested, PM or email me.

I have a couple sail panels, but they were hacked up for some 6x9's. I bought them to mess with them and see if I can make a little better design for a speaker. I dunno if I have the seatbelt plastic pieces in them. Those are vert specific too.
The panels in the trunk are factory parts off the hardtop that were cut to size to fit in the vert. The rest is just covered in black carpeting (at least on my car), aside of the factory rear well carpeting.

MADMAX (big fan of your's by the way I have seen 3 of your films LOL)
Thanks for pics, wow I was unaware that they used those pieces in the trunks of verts.
I bought 2 verts one was a parts car (92) the other a 89 Iroc
The 92 came with these black moulded carpet pieces with a little pocket and everything, I believe now instead of the plastic.
the 89 had nothing so I just figured on using the moulded carpet in the 89.
Wonder what year they started that (or Changed)
or did I get the one where they ran out of plastic LOL

I started a thread about this about 6 months ago.. Conclusion is it was completely random.. My early 92 has carpet, but I've seen some with plastic...

I think i have a set of those seatbelt trim for the rear panels, i removed my rear seatbelts and filled in the holes in the panels. have no need for them anymore. i believe their grey, you would need to paint them or something.

Stupid work kept me away as the auctions ended. Lost most of it. Got a lot too tho...

MADMAX,
Yeah, good movies...the 3rd, hmmm hehe
I think those interior pics echo mine, but it's all gray for me
I like the two tones. The 'sail panels' are the rear of the roof line, not found on a convertible (in my mind/opinion), I just don't think the term applies to the interior panels at all, but I could be wrong...just doubt it.
Mine are different for an 89 and the speaker planel covers as well...
Got a few new pics, this one works?>

I took two or so pics of the behind the panel view... I'm not aware of the solenoid location, for example but my panels are loose so I can retrieve the pull release for both sides as my main method of opening, an often leading to the release falling behind the panels when secured. Gravity is a bitch hehe
The speaker magnets also presented a challenge and barely fit in the cavity space!

Solenoid Location
BillSpeed.
I drew an arrow on the attached photo(yours) showing the location of the Toneau Release Solenoid. If you follow the cable coming out of it you will see that it goes to the latch mechanism. Hope this helps!

The wiring is not too hard to trace but I would check the most probable sources of failure first.
Take a look at your fuses. If fuses are fine then go back to the trunk. Raise the trunk lid and loosen or remove the trim pannel on the rear of the car. Take a good look at the trunk latch. On the bottom of the trunk latch there should be an electrical connection plugged in. This is a safety mechanism that prevents you from popping the Tonneau while the trunk lid is up. Plug it in and it will probably start working. If that doesn't work then I would Check for current at the switch then trace the circuit from the switch to the solenoids through the trunk lockout and back to the switch...
I'd be willing to bet it is the connection to the trunk release that has it inoperable...

Getting a wee bit off the subject, but I had mentioned I NEVER saw a switch or button and always used the two pull cords since I bought this car. The trunk release is electric like my Caddy but stopped working some time back, it's not aligned as I mention in your thread anyway. I'm thinking the electrical is good, I know the fuses are (under the dash).
I'm miffed but will keep looking around. hehe

The button was used in two locations from what I've read here thus far, I'd like shots, or can show that mine seems bare. Anyway, sorry about the hi-jacking, I try and keep it brief.
There was a solenoid thread, but I was not aware exactly what they resembled, or location.

Tonneau release
This discussion should be moved to one devoted to the Tonneau release...
BillSpeed,
There were two locations for the switch. The more logical one is near the rear bow release but it did not happen until sometime later than your car. I would guess that your car probably had one sometime in the past, and that the top of the console was replaced with an INTERIOR PLASTIC PIECE that did not have the hole for the top switch... If you look under there you might find the switch or at least the plug in for one... I know your car was wired for it because looking at the pic you took earlier you can clearly see the solenoids as well as the electrical connection for them...
