I think the 115 wasn't introduced until '89, I could be wrong though. My bucket is full, when I learn something new, I forget something else

You could get a 115 in 1988 as my sport coupe has one

Re: 145 speedo in 88 LB9 vert?

I've got an original stock 1988 IROC Z28 Convertible with the LB9 engine and it has a 145mph speedometer. My original stock 1989 IROC Z28 Convertible with the LB9 has a 115mph speedometer. My 1985 IROC Z28 and 1985 Z28 both have 85mph speedometers.

Re: 145 speedo in 88 LB9 vert?

It would depend on the rear axel ratio actually. IIRC in 88 & 89 The following was true:
LO3(ALL) - 115
LB9+ (G92) A4 or M5 - 145
LB9 standard A4 or A5 - 145
L98(ALL) - 145

Re: 145 speedo in 88 LB9 vert?

Camaro White Book on page 111 says that all IROCZ with the LB9 , B2L, or L98 in 1988 came with the 145mph speedometer, rear gear ratio didn't seem to matter in 1988. Although, the IROCZ in 1989 with the same LB9 engine only came with the 115mph speedometer. If it had the G92 rear gears then it had a 145mph speedometer in 1989.

Re: 145 speedo in 88 LB9 vert?

Not to pull hairs but The White book is incredibly accurate.... NOT. Unfortunately its the best thing we have right now. Unfortunately I do not have the Parts & Illustration catalogs for the Camaro like I do for the firebird, I do have the Illustration portion on MicroFiche but the info is limited. Typically speaking for a given year similar things would happen between the Firebird and Camaro lines where its pretty safe to assume that what happened to one probably happened with the other.

With that said, I know for a fact that the Firebird in 1988 & 1989 with the LB9 & non Performance gear got the 120 Mph Speedo, I would think that this would translate into the Camaro as getting the 115 Mph Speedo. Add to that we have this RLPENNA with just that.

Mine has a 185 speedo!!!!! But it's in km's .

But it's also an '89 IrocZ with LB9, 5spd, G80 (limited slip) & GU4 (3.08 rear end).

Re: 145 speedo in 88 LB9 vert?

love the 185 lol....when i bought my car this summer, i did a carfax and it came back with a title from a previous state saying (incorrect mileage) or something to that effect. I couldnt care less how many miles were on it, its 20 years old, then i started looking at the dash and i could tell the speedo screws had been taken out, couple that with what i read about lb9 having the 145, it all made sense. who knows, i guess its not that big of deal to change
