91 RS VERT 5-Speed How rare?
91 RS VERT 5-Speed How rare?
i recently found a 91 rs camaro convertible and it was a 5-speed. I know for 91 there was roughly 5000 made but how many of the 5000 were 5 speeds.? Correct me if im wrong but arent the automatic verts way more common then manuals? anyways its a very nice maro and i think im gonna pick it up.
How much should one like this be worth.? it has a 305 TBI W/5 speed and 79K original miles. Power windows, All original car body and paint are nice and Top is only 2 months old..good tires, clean title, everything works on it. what should i expect to pay for it

You are correct. The 5-spds are more rare. The automatics are much more common in all types of 3rd gens.
Out of 100,838 Camaros made in '91, only 15,517 had the 5-spd. That equates to only about 15% of the total year's production. Unfortunitly, there is no way that I know of to crossreference options with productions numbers for the 3rd gen Camaro. That means we know how many were RS verts and we now how many total Camaros had 5-spds, BUT we don't know many were built that were RS verts & 5-spds.
But just as a really loose quesstimate, if we apply the same logic, then 15% of the 5,329 would equal 800 units. There is no way to prove this, but it might be a rough answer.
She definitly sounds like a nice ride and I would snap her up. Without knowing more details or seeing any pics, I would throw a guess out that $5000 to $6500 might be reasonable. May be more or less depending on the details of the condition.
Good luck.

It's hard to say without knowing the condition.
$3000-3500 is fair. It is TBI after all
Lately though these nut jobs out here have been asking 7-8K which is absurd.
I've seen 8 91-92 verts for sale this week alone for that price.
6 of those same 8 have been up for sale forever because the owners won't get a clue. The other 2 just came up recently and will probably be for sale forever at that price also.
There are plenty of vert's on ebay that can't get a bid at 5K and can barely break 3K when they start with no reserve.
Any nut job that is asking 8K for your average vert has been watching too much barret jackson and is just ruining it for the rest of us.
Someday all these cars will be owned by investors and not enthusiasts, then these same people will be whining they can't get their dream car because it's too expensive.

I think 3500 is a fair price. thats what i paid for mine and it needed tires, clutch, radirator flushed out because it was so muddy, seats were ripped, alignment, paint pelling, lot more miles than yours.
i still love it though.wouldnt change it for any other car(maybe a 92 z28)

TBI vert. The fact it's a firebird more then offsets the fact it's not a 5-speed in value.
Average driver condition for a 16 year old car.
Hardly broke $2,000.
That's true market value.

Great buy. Probably a good thing I didn't come across that deal. I don't have room or $$$ for another car!!

Re: 91 RS VERT 5-Speed How rare?
Rarer by one! I bought a 91 RS vert 2 weeks ago, after it got rear ended, for parts for my 92Z vert. Paid more than you did too. Give a holler if you find you need an L03 or spare 5 speed 113,000. No good to me.
Keeping evertyhing I think I might need, My car has an LB9 w/ auto.

Re: 91 RS VERT 5-Speed How rare?
got my 1991 camaro z28 convertible, 5 speed, 3.08 posi, all power ..
for $1500
had 120,000 .. but had a new top, new oil / filter, brand new tires, and a flowmaster
but after a couple hundred miles of sliding round corners and showing off ..the motor gave out and starting mixing oil and antifreeze ..
soooo .. $3500 later .. and i got a fully built 305 tpi with:
summit racing vortec heads ( 1.94, 1.5 ... 170cc, 67cc .. .520 max lift)
edelbrock vortec tpi hi flow intake manifold
hooker 2055 headers w/ 3" y pipe
comp 501 cam (212, 218 .. 264, 268 .. .480, .490 lift .. hyd. roller)
aluminum flat top pistons (+5.00 cc)
thinnest metal head gasket summit has
(compression is around stock now b/c of bigger 67cc chamber heads)
double roller timing chain
all new sensors
new distributor / ignition module
new coil
taylor 8mm wires (and 10.5 mm coil wire)
accell shorty u groove spark plugs
flowmaster muffler (stock pipes and took cat off)
bbk adjustable fuel regulator
new fuel filter
k&n air filters
and a nordskog digital dash ..
runs AMAZING right now .. but i need to get a full 3" exhuast and the slp runners ..
then tune it .. and i should be good to go ..
i only have 170 miles on the car now ..
(ok on the motor / clutch)
then im gonna put on a fiberglass cowl induction hood .. and paint the whole car black w/ ghosted red pearl racing stripes .. and a good 6 coats of clear (hey, i do collision repair .. so the paint is gonna look amazing .. not that the motor doesnt too)
and then re-do the interior in black leather and red stitching
with all this .. what do yall think the car will be worth ..
not that im going to sell it .. but everyone has there price if you know what i mean ..
so far every time i pop the hood .. all ive hear is "damn, thats nice" .. or "wow" ..
