Very very rare RS vert?

met a guy last weekend. he had a '91 rs vert automatic. it was bright red, and only had 67k miles on it. everything was mint on the car, and i mean mint. even the rims (16x8) were perfect and super shiny it was completely stock, he started it up (stock exhaust, too) and it sounded quiet but great, like a brand new car lol. even when put into reverse and drive, it didn't jerk or make any noise, wish my car was that smooth lol. anyways, the top on it was perfect too, but then he opens the door and it has a brown leather interior!!! i'd heard about and seen pictures of that interior before, but this one had it and it was perfect. there wasn't a scratch on the car. it was a one owner car until this year when he bought it. guess what he paid? $2,500!!! he got it that cheap because he bought it from his friends dad and the speedo had just stopped working the month that it was sold. i couldn't believe him when he said that, he said it's worth 7-10k and i would definitley pay that for it.

how rare is it for an rs that is red to have a brown leather interior? was this only something you could specially order from the dealer? wow was that a sweet ride. that car is the reason i am painting my car red

now the wierd thing is i thought almost all leather thirdgens had power, his seats were brown leather, but the car had manual seats... wtf???

Re: Very very rare RS vert?

It was brown, or tan? Brown wasn't an option in '92.

Re: Very very rare RS vert?

I wouldn't say that it was rare just because of leather, non-electric seats. But the fact that it is an RS with leather is pretty cool. You don't see that very often.

Re: Very very rare RS vert?

I have dove skin leather w/o power seats. Not sure that makes it rare. My Vert is a z28 w/39,000 miles and not sure I could get what that guy thinks his is worth. IMO this would be a good time to buy one. I think you can get them for much less w/the economy and as years pass and things turn around prices will go up.

It's a great time to buy them, but I'm a college student and have 5k into my RS and it's in peices right now lol. If I had my way with money, I'd get another '91-92 Camaro RS, hardtop, put in a carbed LT1, T56 and 4.10's I could run around telling everyone it was a 305 and buy a nice vert Thirdgen in race winnings

I agree...people always say they had one just like mine until they see that it has leather...then they say, "I didn't know the RS came with leather".

Both my 92 Z28 (CURRENT) and 92 RS (sold) convertibles have the tan leather interior with power seats.

Re: Very very rare RS vert?

not to offend anyone here but in my opinion tan is the worst interior color there is (I'm sure I'm not alone in that opinion and I'm sure people have tan interior and love it) especially with a red body and I have to admit that I skimmed this thread but I think the original question was red rs vert with tan leather interior. In my opinion while this may be rare it is undesirable (at least to me) don't want to offend anyone but rare and undesirable doesn't really mean much. It would be like a yugo with leather interior or something, who cares nobody's gonna want it (Ok that was extreme comparing a camaro to a yugo but hopefully you get my point). I guess my point is this, a lot of people associate rare with valuable, but in my opinion rare and undesirable doesn't really mean a whole lot. It would be like having the only '92 3rd gen with an AM radio (not sure if that was an option or if it was rare or not) but who wants an AM radio.

I guess opinions are like....well you know, but I have a '91 Trans Am convertible that is red with beechwood (tan) interior and love it! I think the tan against the red just looks classy. Just my take on it.

I personally love my Flame Red Cloth seats

My neighbor has a '91 RS Vert and I believe it has the tan interior also.

That's good that you like it and that's why I never said anything like all cars with tan interior are hideous or anything like that everybody has their own opinions and I am certainly not gonna knock your car it sounds like a really nice car. Also a couple of points I left out was I agree black and tan interior looks much better than red and tan I just don't think those 2 colors go together. Also another point if the original poster was thinking this car would be more valuable because of the rare color combination, but to me it would not be since I don't like the color, and the way I look at it a car is really only worth what someone will pay for it.

I see there are a few others that like this color combo and as somebody already pointed out what opinions are like.
