I can only find total 1991 Z28 convertibles built [3203] but not a break down for auto and 5 speeds.

Is this info known?

Thanks, Todd.

no.

My guess is 20-30% are 5-speed.

Actually probably closer to 15%...

Using Compnine, although they only have 3089 (1991) Z28 Convertibles, they list 460 Z28 Verts with the MM5, making it 14.89%... Even if the remaining 114 Z28's were all MM5 cars, that would be 17.92%...

I would feel safe saying 15 to 16%, probably closer to 15%

Making a 91 Z28 5 speed a bit hard to find? How do you think this reflects on the value? Is there a strong market for this car?

Here is a pic of my '91 Z28 vert

305 TPI (added a paxton supercharger later)
5 Speed
Dark Red Metallic with Black Deluxe Cloth Interior
Presently ~5,800 miles on it

Ordered to my spec from factory in May 1990 on my first day of work after graduating from college, delivered in August... it seemed like a long wait at the time!

Thats unbelievable that you bought the car brand new and after 20 years have only put 290 per year on it! Ill bet it still has the original tires!

I personally own 4 cars and only drive my IROC on nice days but even then it comes to about 2,000 a year (late spring and summertime!!)....How can you limit yourself to only 1 tank of gas a year???
Nice car BTW!

Re: 1991 5 speed Z28 convertibles built
yes, the first couple of years i probably put closer to 1000 miles each year and then when i got engaged / married i pretty much kept it parked while we were building our house, etc so i would only drive it 4-5 times a year for <200 miles / year type mileage.

Then with it getting some years on it and low overall miles i didn't want to put to many on it, but i really wanted one to drive but couldn't afford another one with having children, etc... by 2008 i had enough money to buy a nice second one that i have dropped a LS3 and T56 into and drive that one quite a bit in the nice weather

To me the 3rd gen is the top of the line, probably because they were just coming out when i started high school and they were the cool car you always thought about if you were a chevy / pontiac fan. In fact my first 3rd gen that i bought in 1988 and traded in on the '91 vert i am trying to find in hopes of getting it back

I love your '91! I had a Dark Red '92 Z28 w/T-Tops. I sold it to look for a '91/'92 vert w/5 speed the same color. I looked 3 years and never found one. It seems to be pretty uncommon. Actually the only one with a 5 speed I found I bought a couple months ago online sight unseen however it's Black. It's a very nice car.... but it's not Dark Red!

thanks, the dark red metallic is my favorite color. my first Camaro was an '88 hard top sport coupe in the same color, i had saved all my money up and at 20 was able to buy it new, but the insurance was a killer, even in a v6 that this one had!

when i went to order this one a couple years later i kept going back and forth between dark red and black. they had a black one illustrated in the 91 sales brochure that looked real nice but i just couldn't get the dark red out of my mind so i stuck with it and glad i did.

however i now also have a black '85 t top and like that one too!

You know I hate the fact that I'm getting old, but when I was 19 I bought a 4th gen and it cost $190 a month for full coverage insurance but when I called to see what insurance would be for my 92 RS that I'm picking up next month and they told me $180 for full coverage and I said a month and she said no no that's for 6 months.

I guess getting old isn't all that bad.
