rear speakers in a vert
what rear speakers are you guys running in your verts? i went on crutchfield and they recomend round speakers but the hole is big enough for a 6x9. now the problem is the botton depth, to run a 6x9 it would have to be pretty damn shallow. so what rear speakers are you guys running?

Re: rear speakers in a vert
My '91 TA had 6 1/2" rounds as the stock rear speakers. I have replaced them twice - first at 8 years with Rockford-Fosgate then 5 years later with Polk Audio. These were also 6 1/2" rounds. The Rockfords fit the narrow depth needed without modification. The Polks fit but I needed to fab a spacer to move the magnet towards the inside of the car.
I drive them with a 260 watt amp in the bottom of the trunk well along with a 10" sub. Sound is high quality and cuts through the road noise on the interstate with the top down.
You will find that the speakers are different for different years even though all were installed by ASC when converted to a vert.

Ok i got my 1 1/2 spacers yesterday so i ripped my rear panels off. The previous owner had house speakers screwed in behind the panels lol. my Memphis speakers are 3 1/2 inches measuring from the mounting surface to the bottom of the magnet. and with the spacer they fit good, ill have pics up tonight

Similar question I guess...where are you guys mounting amps in these cars? I'm wanting to keep the factory look so I'm using the factory HU, but I thought about using a harness to wire an inline amp to improve the sound along with some new speakers. Thoughts?
