Help me identify a squeak

I have a squeak on the passenger side of my vert. Been there since I had it and I really need to know if you guys can help. Sounds like it is coming from the door area, but haven't managed to work out where. It goes almost completely when the roof/top is up.

Could it be the door striker?

Could it be that weird silver device in the door jam?

It sounds like a budgie and is driving me mad

Cheers,

Try tightening the bolts in the top frame. I know you said its in the door but these types of noises can be deceiving.

Just to be clear- the roof frame right? I hear you about deceiving noises so well worth a shot.

Yea the roof frame. There's a couple of bolts at the joints where it folds and they tend to squeak. Especially the ones up by the top of the windows on my car anyways.

Re: Help me identify a squeak

I think I've solved it. The metal brace that the door handle sits on is riverted on to the door skin. The furthest forward edge is kind of wedged in and that is where I think there was a squeak. I have cut up an old shirt and stuffed it in to the area to make it far firmer and so it wont move about.

So far so good. The car is sooooooo much nicer to drive. Funny how something like that can get you down and become quite obsessional.

Cheers!

Can you tighten them? My car sits top down most of the time and I need a new top, so I honestly never even looked.

But with the top up the two scissor bars right above head squeak like crazy. I've defaulted to carrying a folded up piece of paper to wedge in there when I have to, guess I should just tighten the bolts...
