Fastest Verts

Just curious who got some of the fastest verts, what kind of power you are making, and what supporting suspension mods you've made to handle the power.

Re: Fastest Verts

Unfortunately I was only able to take mine to the track once this year, which also happened to be my first actual 1/4 run in the car after my swap. So my only time is my best time. I went 12.15 @ 116mph spinning through 1st gear and shifting like I was eating a sandwich. Should be able to knock out an 11.7 or so with practice.

I was under the belief that a convertible couldn't run 1/4 mile runs (NHRA rules or some such) if they were going to run sub 14 seconds without a complete roll bar? I believe your car, especially, would do sub 12's all day long, just wondering how you were able to do it; law wise. Id love to run mine when its done, but I do not want a roll bar.

It's up to the track to decide what they allow. He very well could have been kicked out after that run or they may not have cared.

Re: Fastest Verts

My last engine went 11.05 @ 127.7 mph on motor

9.85 @ 140.6 with a 200 shot.

This new turbo 6 banger feels pretty mean with 10psi. I can't tell how fast though. Could be 12's..could be 10's... it should be making at LEAST 450fwhp but it could be making 500+. The tuner thinks it may be closer to 600hp based on the MAF reading 60lb/min of air at 6650rpm. Double what the stock 300hp engine reads.

Bone stock, my vert went 15.7 @ 87mph.. Haha a 75 shot took it to 14.2 @ 100

Even faster with weight reduction. I also have a 98 SS with the MS4 cam and it has gone as low as 10.6 with full weight reduction tips for LS1Tech

Re: Fastest Verts

Most people make cruisers out of there vert (like me) since they are structually the weakest model. They try and find a hardtop to make power with.

The tech guys at our track are pretty laid back. A friend of mine has a 408 '02 SS convertible with no roll bar and his went 11.2 or something and they didn't kick him out. It helps that a bunch of my friends are in good with the techs.

I know I could start ripping crap out of the car to make it lighter (weighed in at 3600 lbs), but I can't seem to find anything that I'm willing to ditch. I like my stock interior and I actually may end up putting a/c back on it, so I don't wanna ditch the ductwork. I refuse to ditch the impact bars for insurance and safety reasons, etc.

My preferable alternative is to just make more power to go faster. I'd love to slap a Magnacharger or something on it.

Mine bone stock with the 305TPI ran 15.5 at I believe 86-89mph, don't remember the trap speed but I remember the ET vividly.

The sounds about right. But I'm up here in the 5300ft elevation THIN air. N/A cars are usually about full second slower than tracks under 1k ft

Mine probably had you beat for slowest.... all stock with 2.73...... ohhh did i forget to mention i have 20's..... it was soooooooooo slow. the 3.73's definitely brought it back to life, but it won't win any races anytime soon.... except against my old TR7 Vert.

Being at sea level is like a supercharger man! Mine is still rocking 2.73's up here too.
