Convertible lid leather replacement
Hello, I'm new to the site. I just acquired a project, 1990 Iroc Convertible that needs work. 305 with auto trans.
I'm looking over things to do to the car, and one thing I haven't figured out is where to get a replacement "fake leather wrapping" of the convertible lid. Where do you get a new one or is it EZ for any upholstery shop to redo on that panel if u were to strip it off. I wanted to strip it so that I can get it painted right, then put a new leather piece on there. Thanks

I'm confused as well, there is a vinyl piece on mine, but no leather ... I assume you are refering to the tonneau cover.

As it happens, my tonneau is all apart and I think it will answer your questions. I had the body shop that repainted my car take it off because the clown who painted the car before I owned it, didn't remove it.
I plan on having my car interior guy, cover it with what looks like very thin vinyl cloth, after removing the old stuff. I looks to be about the thickness of heavy paper, like manila envelope paper.
The part that the vinyl cloth is glued to, looks like it's made out of fiberglass or some sort of molded plastic board.
I've never posted pics here on this web-site, but hopefully these will show up and do the trick:

Yes, it's easy to remove the panel. It's only held on with some zig-zags of adhesive. Start at the front corners and work you're way across. Very easy to peel the vinyl off and reapply new vinyl.
You can even get a little creative if you want..

Thanks a lot for the Info, the red convertible is awesome and that beige interior on the other is very nice. Thanks again.
