How'd I do?

Finally got the title signed and feel comfortable about posting this.

Picked this up recently. One owner, 52,000 miles. Only things not original are the tires and radio. Biggest down side to it is it's only a 6 cylinder car.

I've known the owner for 20 years or so. He brought it over for some work to be done and mentioned that it might be for sale. Told me take some pictures and get it listed and anything I got over his asking price I could keep. Moved my Formula out of the garage so I could put this in there (told me I had only seen rain a handful of times and never snow). After completing the work on it, and walking by it everyday, I decided I had to have it.

Probably paid a little more than I should have being a base model, but he was firm on his price and I'm okay with the money I spent.

Plans are to clean it and drive it as is. Going to car shows and cruise ins. Try to keep the miles lowish. Keeping it as close to stock as possible with replacement parts being OEM or equivalent. Being I've got two others (88 Iroc and 91 Formula), I think I can resist the urge to modify this one.

As far as what the car needs, one of the flip rods is broken, antenna looks to be stuck halfway and the hood has a few dings that need to be addressed. Other than that it's basically maintenance stuff. Plan to give it a full detail once the weather warms up (6 months or so for my area, don't have heat in this garage).

Looks like a super clean bird!

Ya know, a formula hood and some black 16" crosslace wheels on that thing would be absolutely killer!

Re: How'd I do?

Nice! Welcome to the cup holder club. Watch out for Bigfeet and 44oz drinks.

I'd clean it up, keep it nice, and enjoy it how it is. Avoid the temptation to modify. I know it's tempting, but with the V6s, any mod tends to become a gateway drug. They do respond nicely to 16" wheels, WS6 sway bars, etc but then it's easy to start thinking about an engine swap, and everything on the V6 is different from a V8. I have a theory they make great project cars, but haven't ever finished one. LOL

It's been well cared for it's entire life.

I was thinking of picking up a set of the 17" Gta wheels. Mainly to get into modern rubber. While "new" and only having a few hundred miles on them, the tires on there are quite a few years old. Depending on what can be done with the hood (need to get with a PDR guy), might look for a TA or Formula hood if this one is going to need paintwork.

Thanks!

I know there weren't that many convertibles produced in the later years. Didn't buy it for it's collectability, bought it because it was so clean and I like the lines on them. I now own one of each, hard top, T-top and vert.

The cup holders in my 91 Formula are still intact. I've never really used them and watch it when getting in/out because I know they are easy to knock off and damage.

If I do to modify it, it'll be handling wise. I see no sense in trying to make the v6 faster. I doubt I'll even do that.. It rides much nicer than either of my two other cars. More "floaty" than connected to the road (the other two cars have Eibach pro kit springs and Konis).I'd like to keep the nice ride on this one as it'll be a cruiser,

If for some reason the motor or trans ever goes out, then I'll look into an LS swap. For now it can stay stock. My Iroc has a 5,3/4L60 and the Formula has a 383TPI/T56, I'm no stranger to tearing one of these apart.

Already have a set in my cart on your site. Recently purchased some of your headlight motor parts and was very pleased with them.

You did real good! That's a clean car!
I see that all the cars in your sig have built engines. Good luck resisting the urge to pull the V6....

I updated that a bit, those cars have been finished and sold. I'm down to the one I plan on keeping now.

I've had my eye on it for a while. Didn't think it'd be for sale anytime soon. So when he told me it was available, I knew I'd regret not picking it up.

Re: How'd I do?

Very nice. If you could I'd definitely hit 17" crosslace wheels. Formula hood if you find a deal and just cruise that 3.1 as is.
