Confused...

I recently acquired a 03/88 Iroc Z28 convertible. It has an ASC tag that says April of 88. It has a B&M shifter in it. Is that stock? It also has a number plate under the hood on the rad support. 09 4016. Does that mean anything? Any theory is better than what I have now.
Thanks for your time.

Re: Confused...

The B&M shifter is not stock. Post a pic of the number plate you are asking about, that will help us identify what it is, if it means anything, etc

Re: Confused...

I'm not sure what those numbers mean. That spot on my 88 IROC is covered by the air intake. I'll have to look when I get home. My 88 was built in 4/88.

My 89 RS has 09 6451 in that spot

Re: Confused...

My 88 IROC had it under the air intake... It's a little dusty under that! Time for some cleaning lol

I love the blue IROC's. Nice ride!

Re: Confused...

I did a search on here, and it looks like it's just a build sequence number.

And since Camaros and Firebirds both came down the assembly line together, the sequence numbers will not match the VIN, unless it is the very first car built for the model year. My 88 has a higher number than your car, simply because it was built a month later than yours.

Oh and thanks for the compliment on my car. I would like it a lot more if it was blue lol

Re: Confused...

I wonder how to find out about the build sheet for that production number I assume through ASC

Have you looked under the carpet for your build sheet?

Re: Confused...

The ASC tag is showing the year and month the car was converted to a convertible in their shop.

Re: Confused...

My car says April 88 on the ASC tag. That doesn't jive.

Re: Confused...

No, that radiator support tag has nothing to do with ASC. We have an 86 IROC-Z, t-top car at work with 26k miles and it has the same tag. It's just the build sequence number at the factory

Re: Confused...

I was speaking about the ASC paper tag he found 0n the driver's door - not the metal tag you are speaking about,
